Rosshf
All about communism...??? or some romance thrown in Ross??? Us girls have to have a bit of romance! There's a bit of romance in Catherine the Great! I got in to that author after reading a number of books on dictators (Hitler, Mau etc) -- fascinating stuff. Not sure their characteristics necessarily reflect mine tho:wink: just interested in what makes these people tick. Ross

Daveakaginge
Struggling with Inferno by Dan Brown, more like a tour guide, than a thriller. Taking ages to read, normally read a book in a few days. Can a I recommend (for those who have never read anything by him) the 'Sunbird' by Wilbur Smith. Loved all his books really, until the last couple .......for me it has to be a thriller, or physiological thriller, can't get my head around non-fiction. Nikkis2000
Kate Mosse's Languedoc trilogy is good. Historical fiction based around the region in France. The stories are all based in different eras but refer back to characters in the other books. Very cleverly written.

Dave....Ginge....thats what I like about Browny, he takes you on a journey, and I feel quite educated when I read of all the places and artists etc he talks of, although I guess it can come across a bit l Judith Chalmersesque! I have read Inferno and really enjoyed it! Have you read Digital Fortress by Brown thats good!

kerry267
'The Help' by Kathryn Stockett, loved that book although I didn't see the film. Also just read a book called 'The Light Between Oceans' and loved that too although I cried my way through it. I would usually avoid books like that but I didn't know it was going to be sad! Also set in WA which I didn't know when I downloaded it onto my kindle..

portlaunay
I'm reading The One Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out The Window And Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson. Very intriguing story and good entertainment. Also on the go at the moment is The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch and I'm going through Bill Bryson's The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid for the second time because I find it hysterical. My favourite book has to be The Life of Pi by Yann Martell but The Diving Bell and the Butterfly had a profound affect on my life and perspectives and I'd recommend everyone to try it but it is emotionally draining. Next on the shelf are two Trudi Canavan novels and I've never read 1984 so I may start that too.

I just found it I don't know how to describe it cheesy maybe? When I was reading it I didn't imagine it like a blockbuster movie more a low budget made for tv middle of the night type of jobbie! The actual plot idea good but lacking in execution. God sorry I sound like a knob!

God sorry I sound like a knob! .....not sounding knobby at all Caz! I know what you mean though, think Da Vinci was such a huge hit, anything else was never really going to measure up, I have a feeling it wasn't until he launched da Vinci that anyone had read the other books ( I think they were released before da Vinci). The Lost Symbol is very good, I'm quite intrigued by signs and symbols and their history.... P.S. you can be how you like today, you got your visa.... Edited August 27, 2013 by guest9824 Extra p.s..
