Colesy06
Re-sitting Ielts tomorrow to try to get extra points for 190, Im five points short at the moment but if unsuccessful planning on going down the temporary skilled worker 457 visa route. If I do, will my husband have to apply for a working visa himself or will he be able to work in Australia if I'm there on a temporary visa. He does not have a trade but has worked in the retail business and in car sales.
fifi69
If he is on your 457 visa then yes he can work
elfie
Oh please avoid the 457 and go for another visa it will give you more security. There are so many conditions attached to this visa. Loss of job time limit to find another sponsor ect school fees for children. Stick with the Ielts to get a permanent visa. Specially if Abbott wins the election it may go altogether. If you do go with the sponsored 457 your hubby will not require a visa to enable him to work. Colesy06
Thanks for that, just got back from sitting my Ielts again today so fingers crossed have managed to get the score I need to achieve the extra points I require for a permenant visa. If I'm not successful, we are coming to Australia on a 5 week holiday in a months time, was given advice today to make an appointment whilst there with a Migration Lawyer. Apparently they can go through my paperwork and advise me, I am somewhat confused about my qualifications as I have a Diploma in Health Education-Adult Nursing which ANMAC have assessed as being comparable to an Australian Bachelors Degree if that's the case they I have enough points. We're not looking at emigrating til next year so hopefully Abbott won't make too many changes to scupper our chances of moving over there
verystormy
If using an immigration agent, make sure you use a registered one. There are a number of good ones that are recomended on here. Go Matilda are highly regarded and you can deal with them in the UK

They class it as a degree. I have a migration agent in the UK. Debs
Colesy06
Thanks Deb so did Migration Agent advice you to put Bachelors Degree as your qualification then? As ANMAC have said though they have assessed my qualification as equivalent to Bachelors degree it is at the discretion of the Officer at DIAC to determine my points. Don't want to put degree down if their going to turn round and say I've put false info on my EOI.
sternchen695
Hi Colesy, have you heard anything from a Migration Agent yet? I'm in the same boat. Anmac says that my qualification is at least commensurate with an Australian Bachelor Degree. Not sure if I can claim 15 points. I did a 3 year Nursing training in Germany. Hi Sternchen695 In Australia at the moment on holiday not seen a migration lawyer yet as managed to get the extra points for a 189 permenant visa. I re-sat my general Ielts in September for the points for a visa and got straight 9's so updated my EOI and was invited to apply for a visa on 7th October, so I have not looked into what I could of put for qualifications. Good luck on your application.
