Greg
You can tell the Northerners, they are the ones walking Whippets, Smoking Tabs and drinking warm beer while wearing flat caps Tongue very firmly in cheek... :ssign7: On a serious note, if they are all here sunning themselves, who is working in the mills and manning the pits. Action needs to be taken before the wool and coal industries fall I not decline!

welljock
What I don't get is how a city in the southern half of the UK is described as Northern.
StraighttothePoint
What I don't get is how a city in the southern half of the UK is described as Northern. Let's be honest here we all know when discussions of this nature are being held it really is only about England in terms of north and south. flatpack
I'm a Northerner who is planning to move over ASAP, be great to get away from all the shandy arsed southerners that are weakening the gene pool around us. Moving North because the can't keep up with the Jones. As for Manure fans, I think you'll find a lot more of them come from Essex than oop norf because they're as pretentious as them! jamesw
What I don't get is how a city in the southern half of the UK is described as Northern. The divide in the UK was simple. South - River Thames - North
Bibbs
The divide in the UK was simple. South - River Thames - North I used to think it was the M4 .. but I think it's actually the M3. It's why Northampton has a "North" in it's name.
Akasully2
I'm a Northerner who is planning to move over ASAP, be great to get away from all the shandy arsed southerners that are weakening the gene pool around us. Moving North because the can't keep up with the Jones. As for Manure fans, I think you'll find a lot more of them come from Essex than oop norf because they're as pretentious as them! I once saw a program that said Northerners and Southerners were different genetically. It all comes from who invaded Britain and where they settled. Up North you mainly had the Vikings who were a rowdy, harsh, fight seeking lot (However, they did produce stunning craftwork) and down south you had mainly the French. Their traits were for a little more refinement, grooming and eloquence. Now, whilst since the bicycle people have had the opportunity to leave their villages and spread their genes further afield, it wasn't really until post WWII /1960's did people move cities so much. They say that if your grandmother lives in the same town as you and has always lived there, then it is likely that that is where your people always came from. So maybe we shouldn't label ourselves depending on where we were raised most recently but instead look to where our grand parents came from. Maybe then we can see if we can identify with the Viking or French traits. Do you prefer a warm pint or a glass of red? Not sure where football kits come into it, maybe that is part of the viking trait of fighting with opposing clans? Well, as a sophisticated southerner who can trace a linage back to the heuganauts I'd better go and preen myself in readiness of that cheecky glass of red! Bibbs
M3 !!! That means Slough is Northern !I would say the M40 is a better divide . Slough is a lost cause. And with the M3, we can cut loose Basingstoke, Bracknell and Reading.

rob-c
Slough is a lost cause. And with the M3, we can cut loose Basingstoke, Bracknell and Reading. Anything north of Basingstoke is ooop norf and no loss to the south, anything north of Waterloo station is positively savage, north of Northampton are dragons, north of leciester, is there anything north of leciester ?
