Kezzles Posted October 13, 2013 Report Share Posted October 13, 2013 Hey all got back from ielts exam yesterday and found vetassess letter waiting for me. My qualification was assessed as below required level. I'm gutted. I don't know why yet and I'm confused as my qualification is post grad level. I am planning to call the assessor tonight at 11pm as they should be open in Melbourne at 9am to see where I failed my employment history was positive but they said I need both to get positive result. My CIPD degree is post grad and diac and aqs compare that to Aus post grad and not bachelors other CIPD applicantshave failed in past. Not sure if I have another option?? My bf works for Aus company so chance of sponsorship in Melbourne so we will look at that option now. I've also emailed uk and Australian HR bodies to see if I can convert to a bachelors fast track. Its a long shot but worth trying all possibilities! Im at work and have to stop myself blubbing! Guest OmarKhalifa Posted February 13, 2014 Report Share Posted February 13, 2014 Hi guys, I have registered with a MARA accredited migration agency to handle my application; but still, I received a negative outcome on my self assessment. When I looked further into what was submitted, I understood why the application was rejected. The job description that I provided does not emphasize or highlight the tasks required in the role. It also doesn't go into enough details to show that I do perform all the required tasks. Not only so, but the matching that was provided by my agent made very little sense, even to me. I believe the agent wasn't really clear on what was required in the position we applied for and what i actually do. I've got no one to blame but myself for leaving the agent 100% in charge of the application without supervision or follow up. My question now is: what is the best way to position this in the reassessment application? I'm afraid it would seem fishy if i provide another job description that goes into further details of the required tasks. I also can't say that my agent misinterpretted the tasks required from the role i applied to and therefore didn't highlight the most relevant tasks in my job desctiption. I know for a fact that i have a solid argument as I actually do perform most of the tasts required. I'm just not sure what's the best way to approach this Any ideas? Hi Kezzles, be careful as VETASSESS usually require one years post grad experience before they will give a positive skills assessment. Maybe you should look at trying to get a 457 sponsor to get you over or even try a 417 if you are the right age. I know of a few HR advisors here who came on a working holiday and then got sponsored. READ the VETASSESS reqs carefully as you may get a second negative if not careful. A common mistake made by many. The majority of HR Advisors I know on a 457 are either ex HR Graduates from an Australian Uni or experienced under 30's who have managed to secure work visa the Working Holiday visa programme. Effectively the people I know have demonstarted their abilities whilst on a substantive visa with work rights and then been sponsored thereafter. Yes people are here on 457's within HR but things are getting a lot tighter here in Perth and I would think it highly unlikely that a company would wish to sponsor someone who was just here for a week and subject to relocation.You would have just as much chance applying via the UK and unless you had incredibly relevant experience to the advertised role imagine it would be very difficult to secure sponsorship. Sorry, sounds negative but that is the reality. We have lots of excellent international students with a BA in HR looking for sponsors here in Perth. Hi Kezzles You may remember that we're in the same position. My husband is doing a HND (which is the first 2 years of degree) in 11 months, online distance learning. He will then do a HND top-up in 12 months next year which gives him an honours degree. This may be in time before the next big birthday otherwise we will lose too many points (depending on vetassess processing time) Try not to lose hope, there are ways to gain the lost points (regional area, positive skills ass. by your bf, etc). traceylove54 Posted February 18, 2014 Report Share Posted February 18, 2014 Hi Lisa and Kezzles and everyone else I've followed this thread for a few weeks now with trepidation as we are in very similar situation. Kezzles doesn't seem to have been active around for a few months, I did try to send a pm to her but haven't had a reply so I can only hope she's got sorted and is living the high life down under!! We are off to down underline this weekend as have had advice from one MA but want to test it with others for consistency. My husband has a BA in history, then worked in recruitment for 12 years, then did a MA in HR management and has worked for 3 years post this as an in house recruiter within an HR department. We want to move to perth ideally but HR advisor is a schedule 2 on the SOL for WA which seems to mean that we stand no chance of getting state sponsorship from WA without a job, and no chance of getting a job from England with the australian economy on the slide and a large in country talent pool!! Advice from the MA we had was try a different state ie SA, ACT or NT I keep looking at their SOL's and HR seems to come on and off the list and isn't an occupation constantly in high demand so for us we are concerned that by the time we have done IELTS, completed a skills assessment if we can get a positive result and then submitted an EOI the SOL may have changed again!!
