Relocation Fees - Still waiting for reimbursment

Hi, not sure what to do about this really...my husband still hasn't be paid our relocation fees. It is in his contract that this will be reimbursed after 3 months of employment, we are now in to our 5th month and despite having submitted all relevant receipts as requested he still hasn't had received the money. He's asked several times about this but gets no real response, very frustrating. We borrowed the money from a family friend to cover the cost and need to repay this ASAP. I would assume that as it's in his contract they have an obligation to pay this? Any advice would be most welcome.

Yep already done that, the Director just said he couldn't see why it was being delayed and after O/H speaking to him again (several times) and still getting nowhere he feels like he's banging his head against a brick wall, it's as if they have no intention of paying it. He doesn't want to cause bad feeling but it was a condition of our move. Difficult one.

Double check if it states in the contract what your husband needs to do and / or fulfill in order for them to honour any claims - then double check he has met all the conditions. Then also triple check what he can actually claim for and triple check what he has claimed. Also if it states you can claim the costs after three months of employment check the fine print to see what time the employer has to pay it out. It could be that they are stalling on the total payment due to either a very small incorrect claim item, a wrongly calculated claim, something along these lines or you guys have missed something. Some businesses will delay payments not out of deliberate malice more because of the authorisation process, lack of correct information or an issue surrounding timescales.

Tactically he should be saying to his Director that the delay in payment of the claim is beginning to affect his homelife and his work because he is worried about it. If the Director here is a genuine person in terms of ensuring he has happy workers then they will make sure the claim is paid in full so that he has a happy bunny on his hands. If that has been tried and failed, the claim is accurate and meets the conditions of the agreement by both parties and they are still not paying then start worrying I guess.

HR is a good place to start if you are worried or a union rep if he is in one / has one.

Hi, we are on a 457 visa. Looking at the contract it just states that after a 3 month probationary period he gets a salary increase (which he has, although that was a month late too) and in addition relocation expenses to be paid after supplying valid receipts. Receipts submitted and the form signed by senior management.

He has already told his boss that we desperately need this to repay what we borrowed to fund our move but he gets a reply along the lines of 'well I'm still owed expenses too'!

My O/H is going to try and contact HR, hopefully they'll be able to help.

I am worrying, $5K may not be a lot to some but it is to us. Thank you for your suggestions.

If I was his boss then I would be a bit more professional that hopefully. WA though and this is what it can be like here, mickey and mouse springs to mind. Anyway has he filled in the form correctly, has it been signed by senior management and has it been submitted? If so are you giving the company enough time to process it at the UK end and then some more time to transfer the funds? If so,and you are doing everything correctly as far as you possibly can, and to the agreed timescales then HR is the next logical step. And as Ali says document everything from now on just in case it becomes a bit messy.
