Nothing much, as Ali said I've managed to replace with like for like. On the odd occasion I've bought bistro gravy my kids said they preferred the traditional gravox that I use, so that kinda says it all for me, and all of you that are coming with children don't worry they will adapt!! And so do we for that matter :)

Christmas! It just isn't the same here for the kids (or us), there is no big build up and the day is a little flat without family to share the day with. The kids do miss out on that family feeling of getting together with grandparents, aunties, uncles, cousins, etc. Grandads jokes, silly presents, the men all sneaking off to the village pub for a drink whilst dinner is cooking. Just that content feeling of everyone being together, good food (M&S) and wine and a right old laugh with the people who you really care about.

Miss a good pantomine, midnight mass (never did it but really wished we had) and late night Christmas shopping with Christmas songs playing in all the shops and walking around with a starbucks hot chocolate and marshmallows.

I have to say that a few months ago there was an article about a family in Adelaide who returned to the UK, the woman said that the final straw was not being able to find her favourite juice (Robinsons apple and blackcurrant) for her child (they'd only been here 2 months), my daughter and I chuckle every time we see apple and blackcurrant juice - we even saw robertsons in the reject shop - kids do adapt to new tastes. I struggled with the gravy at first then found one we really like. I treated my daughter the other week to penguin biscuits ... she said she likes Tim Tams better now.

My hubby wishes it were cold for xmas day and boxing day - my two actually say how nice it is to not be dragged from pillar to post to visit rellies, instead enjoying just being at home and dipping in and out of the pool.

I heard about that - unbelievable!!

It's good to hear that although there are things we miss they are either superficial or replaceable.

I think the internet speed might be an issue, though having said that, we don't currently have a landline and are using mobile data so there will be some improvement!!

My hubby worked for telewest in the UK (bought out by virgin), we didn't have to pay for internet or cable channels - bit of an eye opener for me to have to do it here lol

when we were previously in Oz I missed cold Christmases and hated having a winter birthday (July)..... I guess this time round I will know what to expect (like not being able to enjoy Christmas lights until at least 9pm at night because it's not dark enough until then!!) The English countryside is a biggy too but I LOVE the Oz scenery too so that kinda balances out..... Bisto gravy powder (I shall be packing lots to take with me.... unless you can get it easily in Perth??) And marmite..... always found that hard to get hold of and would ask people coming to visit to bring some with them!! Castles and National Trust properties..... but you know, we visited so many amazing places in Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, New South Wales and Queensland that I didn't feel I missed out too much!!

We did save up and came back to the UK for Christmas once during our 3 and half years and it was a lovely snowy, white Christmas year and I would probably try and do that every few years just to enjoy it (and use the trip to stock up on clothes, Bisto and marmite!!)

Apart from the dog, I'm also missing my big, thick, waterproof winter coat.

It's been flipping cold and wet in Perth today!

Hasn't it just, but we were barbecuing tonight (we have an undercover patio) and despite it raining were saying "we wouldn't have been doing this back in the UK"

I am going to miss typical breakfast and filter coffee from Bangalore food joints, Saturday cricket with friends (hopefully I get to play in Perth once I am here). Watching regional language movie in theatres. Other than that I don't miss anything much

Love to know what a typical Bangalore brekkie looks like?

Aside from the obvious family & friends - what is the one thing you will (or do) miss the most in the UK?

I was asked this question at lunchtime and actually found myself having to think quite hard. I can list any number of things I won't miss!

We currently live in Essex and I think I will miss how easy it is to jump on the train up to London for a last minute day out/see a show etc. I know there will be similar things in Perth but there's just something about London for me!

Oh and Black Sheep Bitter !

Aside from the obvious family and friends I don't miss a great deal. I agree that Christmas is not the same here, the day itself is a bit flatter with no family around but also the run up just is not the same, a works Christmas party just seems to be a once a year "thing" that has little meaning, I think ours was on October 24th Last year. Also I felt like we missed out on a few big national events, the Royal Wedding, the Jubilee, the Olympics all looked like they were great fun in the UK and I was sorry to miss out.

Hi Redsquare...... was just talking to the OH today about whether we should bring our winter coats. I'm assuming that will be a 'yes' then.....

Only been here a few weeks ourselves so I can't comment on the rest of the year. I did send my winter coat in the shipping (arriving Wednesday) and if the weather is as cold as it was yesterday, I'll need it.
