Hi, Welcome to PP.

I'm no expert in this area though there are other members who work in construction.

I think a lot of people will say the lack of experience is likely to be a barrier and it's not just job experience, a lot of companies seem to want WA experience.

His best bet would be to research the names of organisations that operate here and just start cold calling, he'll get a lot further by having a conversation than he will by firing off CV's.

Good luck, I hope someone else will be along to offer more advice.

Hi MaiTwo,

it's also who you now, it's a lot easier to get a job once you are here.

Hi MaiTwo,

We arrived in Perth in February this year and it took my OH 6 months to get a Site Supervisors role with a good company even though he has 7 years experience as a Site Manager in London.

Pretty much all of the employers and recruitment agents were saying he needed local WA experience and after working for a concrete factory and a very small builder (a job he got from Gumtree), he finally got a break with a large WA builder.

My best advise would be to contact recruitment agents now, both directly as well as on LinkedIn and keep on at them! Joining as many groups as possible on LinkedIn too is a good way of getting his name out there.

I wouldn't worry too much about him getting a FIFO role as they are quite few and far between in Management (I think).

Good luck x
