Have you already applied for your visa? If not then certainly wait to have the medicals done after you have applied. Medicals expire after one year. A lot of visas use the date of medical or police check (whichever is the earliest) as the date the visa runs from you would then have 12 months to validate your visa. When people do their medicals early - they run the risk of being given a short validation time (I think over the years the shortest we've had on here is about 3 months for someone who front loaded).

Example - Medicals November 2013, PC December 13, Visa Grant Feb 14 - you would be asked to validate your visa by November 2014 - if you do not validate then your visa expires.

beandownunder is correct - you have one year to enter Australia from the date you have your medicals - if you have them now then and your visa was granted you would have to enter Australia before 1 year from today. If your planning on going in July 2015 then you should wait until July 2014 to have your medicals.

hi ali,

we have to have a medical report done for our daughter, and that is the only thing we have done with our visa so far. I have scanned the last 3 clinic visit reports to Australia, just waiting to hear back from them, then we can proceed :-))
