Guest guest9824
Just wondered if anyone was lucky enough to go to this at the weekend? Sounds like it was a huge success, with the likes of Heston Blomineckenthal, Rick 'Fishy Stein' and Matt Stone (The Greenhouse {Perth) amongst others, making appearances, the turnout was huge! I would have loved to have gone, not only because it sounds amazing, with amazing chefs, cooking amazing food, but the back drop of Margaret River, Smiths Beach and Leewin Estate couldnt think of many nicer places to go to and enjoy it. Might have to book early for next years!
verystormy
Yes. We were there and had a great time. We only did general admission as we wanted the chefs theatre with Heston but could get them. All of the wineries were there and each had a tapas size dish you could buy from there signature set. So, get a free taster from say, voyager and a dish of air dried venison with beetroot dedication and horseradish mayo for $7. Watched a couple of the shows which were great and brought home some nice wine and craft cider. Hoping next year that my brother in law with be one of the guest chefs so a couple of VIP passes would be good! Missed out on picking up some double yoker eggs as they sold out and some spectacular truffle butter. But, can't have everything.

Maybe if BIL does next year we could be up for some VIP tickets too:biggrin:. Dedication of beetroot?? Sounds rather posh! Havent had a double yoker since leaving the UK, and am a great lover of truffle anything!. Very sad that the Mundaring Truffle Festival has been cancelled, that was a huge crowd puller. Sounds like I will definately have to visit next year!
verystormy
I recommend it. Though we only went for e day and the driving was a bit too much so will look at staying over next year. Even from mandurah it is a couple of hours each way. Will also take a cool box to buy produce as they had some great beef and pork for sale but didn't want leave it in a hot car for hours. We (well I) stuffed my face and also managed to get some amazing chocolate - Bahen and Co who do amazing chocolate with no milk. Just beans and organic sugar cane milled by stone. Going to do lamb with Stilton tonight followed by it with a nice shiraz.

Guest guest9824
Never heard of this but will definatley go. sounds brilliant Odies you will definately have to take a visit down south, like fifi says, its a beautiful area. We like to visit in Winter as its green and lush and lots of places to stay with open fires etc. Maybe there could be a few of us venturing down to this festival next year, hope so! verystormy
We like it in winter as well. One of the most fun times was when they did the cow parade - loads of plastic cows decorated by different artists and hidden all over margaret river. We spent 4 days hunting them all down. Nice as a lot of them were at wineries
lozzachino
I was thinking of going in winter but people have told me its cold and rainy and you get stuck indoors? Could we do it in winter do you think? Its so much cheaper!

Could we do it in winter do you think? Its so much cheaper! That is the best time!! The area is stunning. You visit the wineries, chocolate, cheese etc. Then get back to a cabin or cottage and light the log fire and perfection. The temp is never too cold during the day.
