Hi all i have just been granted a subclass 190 visa and i am still currently in the uk because ideally i would Like a job to come out to! In the uk i work as a bricklayer/,general builder and just wondered what the best way about getting a job lined up before i get to perth?

Unless you know somebody who is here now, and who will put in writing a guaranteed job, then the chances are, well.... slim to slimmer to pretty much nil. Brickies are here and so employers do not need to look too far to get them when needed. Also many brickies here are self employed and so you have to be here, with all the business stuff in place, to be able to approach face to face for work that way. I guess as VS says, it's bite the bullet time.....

I was looking around the show homes last weekend and the sales guy was telling me they have loads of houses to build but are really short of brick layers at the moment....

If I was in your shoes I would come over by yourself and get a job so you are earning $ for when your family come out....

If your brickie, I would just get yourself out here. There is plenty of work at the minute. Bricklayers have no trouble finding work right now.
