jo and scott
hi, I think im having my first wobble today, waiting to hear back about the medical form for our daughter, which they said it would possibly be by today, but not heard as of yet, will be next week now. maybe that's why im panicking a bit, cos once we have that then we can start the visa process :-/ since we have started this process back in june, this is the first time ive thought 'what the hell are we doing' have many of you felt like this, was it a constant feeling? or just every now and then? up until now ive always been really excited about it :-) it just feels so far out of reach too, my mum tells me that we are doing really well as we have saved money, which im normally really rubbish at to be honest ! but there always seems to be an unexpected bill that turns up to screw up the savings. I also feel like there is so much stuff to sort out, feel like my heads gonna explode, I just need to put things into perspective, and breathe jo. Nikkis2000
Breathing's a good start!! Don't worry it's perfectly normal and is probably just a reaction to the fact that when you finally get the go ahead re your daughter you can actually start putting wheels into motion. You have already had a lot to go through just to get to the point where you can start applying, so I think you're prefectly entitled to a bit of stressy moment! I've had plenty along the way, and I'm sure will have a few more in the coming weeks. For whatit's worth my advise, if your head is that full of stuff, would be to make a list. It doesn't have to be in any specific order to start with but just brain dump. Once it's on paper it's less likely to keep running round your head. Then when you're ready you can take a step back and put everything into some kind of order. Failing that - hit the wine
beandownunder
Jo, i second what Nikki has said. write it down, make lists and I even have a aus "folder" lol! It helps to start to pull bits together, even printing off bits of threads on here to refer to in future. I have my fair share of wobbles but they come and go! I'm wobbling now the visa has been lodged that a) we will fail meds - there is absolutely no reasoning behind this! b) Tom won't find work and we will never get there. I think once you get over one wobble you start to dwell on other things until they are complete! I'm driving myself mad. You are doing well with your saving so focus on the positives and I'm sure you will get there too, Love J xx
beandownunder
ps and I definitely second the comment about wine ;-) pps I will be alleviating my wobbles this weekend with a trip to York Christmas markets and a few festive mulled wines lol xxxxx Edited November 29, 2013 by beandownunder
Lou8670
I've had a number of wobbles and one seemed to last for weeks! But they pass . I think you just have to go through this emotional process which is worse for some than others depending on your personality. I worry about everything! Someone said to me the other day that I shouldn't worry about it as I should think of the millions who have gone before me and made it work! And they're right Lou
aligard
Totally normal to have the wobbles. Hell....moving house is one thing....but to the other side of the world.....no job...no car...no house...no family...and so on....You'd be mad if sometimes it didn't feel overwhelming. I just take a deep breath...focus on one thing at a time and think of all the positives, even look at different websites on Oz and Perth....before you know it your all excited again....hang in there
jo and scott
thanks for your replies :-) we do have a folder with all the Australian stuff in it, I think I will go thru my fave posts and print them off and start adding to it. i also worry about stuff a lot, but I didn't worry about selling our house and starting the visa process, but its such a massive thing to do, and yes, moving house is so stressful, but then to move across the other side of the world, omg, it feels like madness right now, but exciting too. MIL is out tonight, so im gonna get the girls in bed early and go thru all the oz stuff and have a look at houses too, that always cheers me up, specially with massive ones with pools lol !! have fun at the York Christmas bazaar Janine, sounds great ! and im sure you will pass the medicals no problem :-) jo. xx
lozzachino
We felt the same throughout the process, and had similar situations where we managed to save extra money only to get lumped with another expense somewhere else! also dont think once you get on the plane all the wobbles disappear, thats when they really kick in! We had wobbles until about 5 months in! But we have been here 7 months now and love love love life! power through it!
portlaunay
Remember, if you make a list, add all the stuff you've already achieved too. Get the whole family involved, there'll be loads you've missed. Get everyone to pick the hardest thing so far on the 'done' list and then the hardest thing on the 'to do', a problem shared and all that. Don't underestimate what you're doing, it's massive, every step is blindfold leap across a croc infested chasm.

tayloal
J&S, I second, third and fourth what everyone else has had to say, wobbles are normal and I have certainly had a few, in fact I have had one this past few days and my stuff is getting picked up for shipping this Friday !! As for unexpected bills, well I got one after someone hit my car (which i'm about to sell) in the works car park, the person refused to accept liability, CCTV was 'inconclusive' and yours truly got stiffed for the bill, oh believe me I was peeved !
