Happy little Vegemite
Good one, happy days! We have only just started getting quotes but I can't wait to be able to say the same, although we're going to go groupage so won't have the joy of seeing it actually loaded into the container and driven away to the port. Best of luck with all that remains for you to do before you go! Cath
alant
We have just got our container delivered (on Tuesday) - we used White & Co too - they were fantastic! However, the same cant be said about their Australian partners - who were rank rotten! We would have been better hiring a van and picking the stuff up from Fremantle ourself they were that bad! Hopefully your experience at the other end will be a much better experience!

Guest Paxo
Oh dear, that's not good news. We are eagerly awaiting delivery of our container as it arrived in port on 13th...and yes, we've also been allocated Kent Removals for the delivery. White & Co were fantastic, great couple of guys who were really careful with our stuff. Can't believe it's going to be a disaster waiting to happen with Kent! Was there a choice on whether to use Kent or was it just as this is who you are allocated with ?? Fingers crossed that it all sorts out... I shall be looking out with bated breath to see if everything is as good at white & co
Happy little Vegemite
How are the quotes going> whats the ball park for a container cost wise? Something I need to get sorted and quickly.. busy debating if our stuff is worth the shipment cost when we are ravelling on a shoe string eek We're looking at a shared container as we're not taking everything and have family in Oz that we can beg, borrow and steal from until our stuff arrives, so the timing for us isn't critical. This could be a cheaper option for you if you're not taking everything? We've only had two quotes so far, but both companies were happy to quote two prices, one with everything and one with things that we're still not sure about like the fridge, dining table and chairs, so that we can weigh up the cost of taking vs replacing. The best quote came in just under £2500, then there's insurance to pay on top of that, from reading on here going through an insurance broker would get you a cheaper price on insurance but this is something I haven't looked in to yet... Our terrible experience with them was over 20 years ago and I assumed that they might have lifted their game since then, but I have since heard horrendous anecdotes from three lots of friends here who have used them for a straight removal (Perth to Perth house move), and it seems their unprofessionalism and rude attitude still prevails. Wouldn't touch them with a bargepole. Interestingly you don't see too many of their vans around these days, Pickfords and Chess seem much more in evidence. Just saying. Candygirl
We used Whites too and agree the office staff and removal guys were amazing and we could not fault anything they did for us. We were absolutely dreading Kents collecting our container after hearing bad reports about them. I expressed my concerns to Whites, but they said they had not had any complaints about them and they were their partners in Perth. Although fearing the worst, we were very pleasantly surprised. The container arrived 6 weeks to the day. We went down to Kent's offices and paid the customs charge and 7 days later the container was at our house and being unloaded. The two guys who unpacked the container were both Kiwi's and could not have done any more. I was on my own as OH was at work and they unpacked all the large items and took the packaging away and offered to stay and unpack other bits. I preferred to unpack things myself at my own pace so declined their offer. Finger's crossed you get the same two guys and everything goes to plan. I think any company are only as good as the team they send out on the day. Good Luck.
