CDM
My wife andI have recently been granted our Visas for a move to Perth and are looking to move to western Australia for 6 months in April next year ahead of a permanent move in 2015. How easy would it be to arrange a 6 month furnished rental property from the UK? Will agents even agree lettings without meeting tenants? Sapper59
Hello, CDM, I think that you would be very lucky to find a reasonably priced furnished 6 month rental property without booking and paying on a nightly fee basis (expensive!). It is really dependant on where you want to stay in Perth and how much you are happy to pay in rent. There are a number of websites for short term accommodation - stayz, AirBnB and rentals on real-estate.com.au are all worth a look and will give you some idea. Relative to UK, we find rental accommodation to be 'cheeky'. Hope that you find what you are after. Regards, S.
Gaz H
HI CDM, You'll struggle to find a furnished property to rent from an estate agent from overseas. you normally have to visit the property before applying. A holiday let is probably your best option short term. If you book more that 30 days (which you will be) some holiday lets will give you discount, they are expensive but most holiday rentals which are generally furnished normally include all bills. As above really, also try Aussiemove.com.au, lets-perth, Stayz probably has the biggest range. There are loads of sites out there. shop around for the best discount. Good luck. dxboz
It is a legal requirement for agents that a prospective tenant has to view the property. It is not impossible to find a six month furnished rental though - not as easy as unfurnished but they are around. You might have to look at private rentals though to get around not being able to view the property. Was going to suggest looking on Gumtree but you will not be able to access contact information from the UK you have to be in Australia to do that. Is it six months exactly? If not you could do a few weeks in a short term rental while you look for a six month one.
Guest AshleyJane
Hi We will be renting out our house in perth from April till October next year while we travel around Australia. It is fully furnished and you can have access to a car as well. The house is in Mt Hawthorn, a lovely suburb 5km from the city. If you are interested please PM me. Thanks, Amanda
dxboz
Sounds perfect solution!
CDM
Thanks for the responses. I have sent a PM to AshleyJane for more information - it could be ideal! Otherwise I think we may do as dxboz says and look for a short term rental before securing something for 6 months once we are there. We are tied to a maximum stay of 6 months but may have to face up to paying for a 6 month lease and vacating the property a couple of weeks early. We might also look at areas outside of Perth such as Rockingham and Mandurah as we don't actually have to be based in Perth itself just Western Australia to activate our Visas. Any other recommendations would be welcome! Chris
lozzachino
Try some house sitting websites, some people go away for months at a time and advertise for house sitters. any reason you want to come for six months before making a permanent move? If you arent going to be working and have to pay for a holiday let it will be very expensive and your money may be better spent on a permanent move. Im sure you have a reason but just think it may be a waste of money if you arent working, and if you are, why go back after securing employment?
