portlaunay
We just found out that friends in Atwell have been evacuated and looking at the affected area on PWL their place looks far from safe. Tough night ahead for the firies, stay safe guys.
verystormy
I just read the ABC online story and it says that in some areas it is now too dangerous to leave and people need to take shelter in rooms furtherst from the front. That actually made my stomach churn.
ali
We couldn't do some home visits today due our catchment area being effected, I wasn't sure I was going to be able to get home, friends have been evacuated.

Guest guest9824
Must be very scary as it gets very dark so quickly here too. Hope no lives are lost and homes lost (already 4/5 reported) are kept to a minimum. Huge praise to all the emergency services, and volunteer firies too. Guest guest9824
Fire is contained now, but not out. The winds will be the worse thing tonight, they will fan the fire and that will be a nightmare....
jo and scott
Good morning all. It smells very smokey in the northern suburbs. Found this on the Parks and Wildlife website: The following information has been issued by the Department of Parks and Wildlife The Department of Parks and Wildlife has issued a smoke alert for areas from Walpole to Geraldton and inland to Toodyay and Mount Barker. The smoke is from a bushfire that started in Mount Roe National Park, approximately 28km north-west of Denmark, on Friday. The smoke is expected to clear tomorrow morning, Monday 6 January. If the smoke is particularly thick, it is recommended people shut doors and windows and turn off air-conditioners. People with asthma and pre-existing respiratory, cardiovascular illnesses or diabetes should follow their pre-prepared treatment plan. Smoke may reduce visibility on some roads and motorists should take care, turn on headlights and travel at appropriate speeds when travelling in these areas. People with conditions exacerbated by smoke should take precautions in line with their medical advice for these circumstances. hi, just reading thru these posts, and i see you have mentioned people with diabetes ? does anyone know why the smoke would effect someone with diabetes ? thanks :-)
