Just got back from a week in Margaret River staying with my Godson and his beautiful family. Emptied the suitcase and car of all the pressies and purchases and now catching up on 2 weeks emails and PP. Been spoilt to the moon and back and I will have trouble getting back to normal, so have cracked open a bottle of vino and will pretend the holiday continues until tomorrow!! It was only 16C overnight in Margs last night.... such a difference to today in Perth! Belated Happy New Year to you all!! Rossy!

Soooooooo glad you had a great time Rossie........

A Very Happy New Year to you xxx

Just got back in from viewing more houses and both feeling the strain. The houses either seem to be very nice but not a lot of garden or even a yard and maybe a small park nearby, very nice and near parks but not close to shops etc, dilapidated house with decent garden and close to parks and shops. With only one of us working and will be having just the one car for now it really needs to be near parks and close to stations etc so not to be shut away all day in the house.

Just got in from another day of spot the random shopping trolleys dotted around housing estates. We've been round the 'good' estates between hillarys to Mindarie and to many other areas including SOR today and they're all over, it's a good game though. On a serious note, we went to Walters point today and that is very nice, shame about the cafe there though.

We went there last year on our reccie. Loved it, great place for little kids to swim without getting knocked over in the surf.

And adults lol, I nearly went flying at Mullaloo the other day.

PW is a lovely ride from Freo, my son and I do it often.

So how far south did you venture and what's the draw to stay north? (if there is one)

I'm planning Friday beers with some mates in Freo if you want to join us? Should be a good mixture of local boys, poms, east coasters so you'll hopefully get a balanced view of the place and areas.

I think you're doing just fine, best of luck to you.

My wife has a job in Mindarie Porty. I don't think I'll come Friday but thanks, I will one day when we're sorted. We are all over the place at the moment trying to find a rental and a car, think we're at the point of was it worth it.

@Keefo it's mind boggling isn't it!!! Make a list of your number 1 priorities, be it kids activities, location, proximity to work or your wife's work, schools, where you can afford to live etc, discuss them together and go with your gut. At some point we all have to decide where to settle and if we really get it wrong you'll just have to move. Good luck in your discussions
