Akasully2
Been running round the house and garden taking pics for eBay selling. I now just see things I don't want as junk or money converters.
cocolevi
Just done all my ironing with patio doors open and listening to my youngest shreeching as she chases the dogs round the garden x
nikkiwd
we had fog and drizzle all day today and yesterday so the big move couldn't come soon enough! I have spent another day packing as the Movecube comes on Thursday...feels like I have been packing and sorting for weeks yet there is still 'stuff' everywhere! anything that is not in a box, other than suitcase stuff, isn't coming and when we come to depart, it will all get friendly with the tip. Miamai
I'm sat patiently waiting for 7am so that it will be midnight in the uk and I can wish my friend a happy birthday - old habits die hard!
Guest guest9824
Pea you have to start as you mean to go on with Harry. Lots of dog training info on the internet but whatever the recommendation and whoever it is from, just make sure it is reward based so it is a positive thing. So much dog training stuff out there that is negative and based on punishment.... Cesar Milan for instance! Just go with the positive reinforcement stuff - ignore the bad behaviour etc that you do with kids, and you can't go wrong. Puppies are tiny kids with fluff and until they know what they can and can't do, they will do whatever they want. Just don't leave good shoes lying around! and please post lots of pics of Harry!!! thanks Rossmoyne for all of that info, I have really made a conscious effort to praise him, he was so good last night, much more settled when we went to bed, he loves his bed which we haven't moved, so he knows to go there to his place for a nap. He was so happy to see me this morning, lovely to see him so excited. He isn't eating a lot though, vets Thursday for a checkup and injection. SJT
Oh Pea He is so cute. We too are getting a puppy and a kitten the minute we move into our permanent home (which we have started to look for now), the kitten I have no problem with, but never having a dog before, as you said I bet its going to be like being a new parent again, already having rows with daughter as she insists the puppy will sleep in her room, whilst I'm telling her we are doing the crate training stuff and if she does't like that idea, we won't be getting a dog!!! keep posting the pictures as he looks lovely. We have the two boys, they are family, they go where they want, and sleep on our bed. They are clean and groomed, and de-flead on a regular basis, these are caring, loving, and our children substitutes. Have fun Pea, each to their own, he will give you undevoted love, and expect little in return, except love and care. Enjoy.

Thanks SJT, trust me when the puppy poops in your daughters room, she will soon change her mind about it being in her bedroom. He was so good last night, I was up really early with him, but took him outside still dark and he did his business, wandered around chasing shadows, then back in, popped into his bed. He had lots of exercise yesterday periodically, so I'm guessing he was tired. Best of luck with the puppy choosing, ours has been on the list since we left the UK, I feel bad that it took so long but things and life get in the way. Akasully2
Just had an argument with OH and now I'm feeling tense. i just opened an Oz bank account on line and as I was filling it in, put me as the primary applicant as it was the first section I had to fill in and him as joint as it came second on the form. Felt pleased with myself for being proactive and getting another one of the to do jobs, ticked off. He then appears and says I did it wrong because he should be primary applicant as he will be the wage earner. It may effect our credit rating, mortgage, etc later. OMG panic! Ended up with me shouting at him and saying he should have done it himself then sooner. I swore lots and stomped around in fear really. Needing reassurance, I phoned the bank in the UK who calmed me by saying it wasn't a problem. They said we could change it over in Oz easily. As for credit ratings they said it was different in Oz. Everyone starts with a good rating and only get bad scores if they default on loans or apply for lots of credit, etc. they would check both of us anyway and clearly they would see he was the main earner, not a problem. I thanked her profusely and started to breathe again. Just need to get the tension out of my shoulders and start talking to OH normally. I just want to get there, like now!
verystormy
Poor sully. Yes, here it really makes little difference with banks and credit is totally different. My wife, who doesnt work is the first name on our savings account and the bank didnt bat an eyelid when we applied for the mortgage.
verystormy
It is normal for you guys at this stage to be having a bit of tension - there is a lot of excitement and also a bit of aprehension. But it will disapear the moment you set off. Just remember it wont be long till you get a bit of that nice Perth sunshine

SJT
Akasully, Honestly it's normal, the little things become very big things with all the stress levels. It may be normal but I know when you are going through it its very stressful, but you will laugh about it one day. As everyone has said credit ratings are worked out so differently here, we were advised not to bother getting a credit card as that does not help your credit rating, where in the UK it does. Mortgages or home loans as they are called here are also worked out slightly different, we are in the middle of applying for ours at the moment and one of the things they do is to check that you can afford it if the rate goes up by 2% in a couple of years, we have also had to give details of what make our cars are and what they are worth and also the value of our contents of the house, hubby was not impressed with giving out that info, but broker said he could not process application without it, they even need confirmation of our pension details. Portlaunay those cookies look good, I hope you had fun making them and that this morning went ok, fingers crossed for you.
portlaunay
Thanks folks, this mornings interview was great but I have a nasty feeling it was one of those public sector due process type ones - going through the motions when all along there's someone internally they have lined up. Shame really, it was a very interesting role and had lots of scope.
Akasully2
Thank you chaps for your support. The waters have calmed already and life is continuing at its usual manic pace. We are talking to each other! Porty those cookies look Devine, I wish I could have a couple with a cuppa. In fact it has inspired me to bake today. I have these ingredients that I have to use up sitting in the cupboard. Dry little bags of stuff that could be dumped but have the potential to be turned into comfort food! Certainly need some of that. But do I have time???? Yes, got to stuff a chicken and peel spuds too. I am ebaying like crazy but then started to wonder if I will have time to post it all. We are on a tight deadline now and virtually everyday is accounted for. OMG is that the time? I'm off.... Bye bye.
SaffanZimbo
Just booked MIL's flights to the UK for her last visit before we leave for Perth. 109 days till the lovely lady arrives. I am so luck to have such a lovely MIL! Not only will she look after the two girls over the summer and save us an amazing amounts on childcare costs but she has also offered to help us declutter the house ready for the container's arrival. I will be able to destress from 18th July to 12th September, safe in the knowledge that MIL is in the house and I don't have to rush home to cook, clean etc. I haven't told her yet that we've booked our last UK summer holiday - cycling and canoeing in the Forest of Dean (I don't think MIL has been on a push bike in years!).
