Guest Guest6235
On our way to London to show Bella the sights... To say she's excited is an understatement :-D Have a good time....Is a last look at London before you go? We've often thought of going, I think the last time I was down in London I was a teenager. I've been since to Wembley but it's not really looking round London.
portlaunay
Have a good time....Is a last look at London before you go?We've often thought of going, I think the last time I was down in London I was a teenager. I've been since to Wembley but it's not really looking round London. I'm glad we experienced living in London but I don't miss it, we really made the most of it but our time there was done. If you go then a walk along the Southbank from Westminster Bridge up to Tower Bridge was one of my favourite things to do. Take the tube to Westminster, walk over the bridge towards the old GLC building with the Palace of Westminster behind you, a trip on the Eye, the Aquarium, stop off into the Southbank centre, the Hayward or watch the skateboarders, Oxo tower, Tate Modern, Shakespear's Globe and then a pint in The Anchor where Tom Cruise and Ving Rhames had a beer at the end of Mission Impossible and from where Samuel Pepys watched the city consumed by fire in 1666. Vinopolis is a great thing to do, especially the hidden little bar out the back, The Prison Museum, The Golden Hinde or maybe the London Dungeon on Tooley Street. Back down onto the river, a walk around HMS Belfast and another pint in The Horniman, past the wonky City Hall and through the old tea warehouses of Shad Thames then double back to cross Tower Bridge, through St Katherine's Dock then across the road and around the Tower of London. That's a very full day and an awesome way to say goodbye to the city as far as I'm concerned. If you really want to see it then do so while it's still easy. It's also great to walk around and see how massive and busy it is and then get to Perth and walk from one end of the CBD to the other in twenty minutes. So laid back too. I really wished I'd had time to say goodbye to Scotland.
Guest Guest6235
Thanks for all that Porty but I don't think we will get down there before we leave, think we would rather save our money for the future. Are you originally from Scotland or generally just wish you went there before you left.

Beautiful part of the world.

Beautiful part of the world. I love Scottish highlands. I've done a bit of hiking up there Ben Nevis, Cairngorms etc & been canoeing on a few of the lochs, great place. I think places like that & beans part of the world lake district, Yorks Dales I will miss.

Sideshowdeb
Yep, one last goodbye. My youngest has never been so it was an easy pick for the bucket list. We're parking down the road from where I used to live so I should have probably worn waterproof mascara?! I won't really be sad to think it's my last visit, I just seem to be overly sentimental of late. I loved living in London when I did and I've enjoyed going back as a tourist. I wanted to go to Scotland (where I grew up) and Suffolk (where I spent my childhood summers) but I've run out of time... Thanks for that Porty, you've added a few stops to our day that I would have kicked myself for forgetting... I had nothing planned that took us as far as Tower Bridge! We would have missed lots! I did enjoy it but, at 17 years old I was too dumb to appreciate it.
Nikkis2000
Aww have fun Deb. Parts of Porty's agenda sound similar to what we did on our last trip up town. There was a bit more alcohol involved for us though due to lack of kids!! Have fun and take lots and lots of pictures, you'll cherish them in years to come! My stag do was a crawl of micro breweries in London, starting in Blackheath. We were doing okay until we got to Vinopolis and then it all went bad. We'd lost any interest in moving on once we settled ourselves in The George Inn (17th century), London's only remaining galleried inn's and one of my favourite London pubs if only for the architecture and incredible history. It was an awesome day out.

It was an awesome day out. Sounds fab! We've had some great pub crawls round there, usually on the way back from Twickenham! I do miss a good English pub! When OH and I did our last trip we treated ourselves to a cocktail or two in the Oxo Tower bar. Expensive but so worth it just for the views. Especially as we could see the Australian flag flying from the top of Australia House across the river!!
