Well it wasn't really the birthday we were looking forward to. At 6.30 this morning we heard a loud bang. Thought it was a car accident then after a few minutes it repeated several times. Came into the lounge to find a guy half hanging in this hole;

Only got Mrs p's handbag but the kids are pretty scared.

Cops and our rental co have been awesome though and it could have been so much worse.

Stay safe people.

I hope you and yours are all ok Porty?! I can't believe the cheek of some people

My SIL and hubby said only a few days ago that most burglaries are opportunists and to keep handbags, wallets, iPads and car keys out of site.

Sending you and yours hugs.

I am obviously catching up on PP... looking around the house at so very much there is still to clean, sell, sort and ship on Friday EEK! we are moving out then and I cannot believe that in a few short weeks we will be in Perth. It seems all very surreal, all these years and finally its happening and there do not seem enough hours in the day to get everything sorted... gulp

It'll go so quick Deb so you're doing the right thing sorting it all now

Cheers guys. It's actually not that bad and it gives us an opportunity to discuss security improvements with the owners. No one hurt, my son is a bit shaken up and he'll likely be edgy for a few nights but it could have been a whole lot worse. They came in through the construction site next door so at lease that build will soon be complete and the site secure.

This is awful, so sorry to hear your news and really hope that your son is ok and they catch the scum. all the best Deb:)

Good luck Jonny.

Mine started today as well. Just dropped them off, they were fine but I feel very emotional. Came back to a silent, empty house and felt like crying. I know they will settle quickly but I just can't help how I feel. Today I am going to throw myself into cleaning the house and vacuuming the sand from the car.

OMG Deb, you're actually there, I've blinked and missed it. How are you both settling in? Is it all you imagined? x

Deb, ive never been so cold in my whole life. Had to go out and buy some boots and a jumper. It hasn't really stopped raining since we arrived either. But I have a car and a satnav and we're finding our way about. Had an interview last Friday. Didn't really get a good vibe from the place I was interviewed at and they told me I'd find it difficult to get a permanent full time job, but they've emailed me this morning with casual shifts, 30 hours a week for the next 4 weeks lol. Bizarre. Off to another interview soon so will let you know how I get on. I have a rental that we are moving into at the weekend. Little 2 bedroom place but it's immaculate. Can't wait to have my own space again. My mate is on nights a lot and it's really hard to keep quiet all of the time. Plus we've been dossing at other people's houses for a month now. Went to spudshed and bought a huge amount of fruit, veg, meat, poultry and fish and other bits and bobs. Came to $200. I thought that was cheap for what we got. And that was for 6 of us for a week. Went to centrelink this morning. Massive queue. Walked right back out again. Picked up some forms so will see if I can do Medicare online or by post or something. All in all it's been busy and we're learning new stuff everyday.

Deb, I can't believe you are here either! One minute it was all house selling hassle, then poof, you're here!

Where are you renting? We move on Tuesday, so not long behind you. Need to find a spud shed, only ever seem to go to Coles. My OH insists on calling it Coils for some weird reason. I think it was a mistake originally, now he just says it to wind me up!

Hope they have a good day Sully and settle quickly..... I came home and wept buckets after dropping my two off for their first day (and so did my daughter at school, but that's another story!), after always home educating them I feel a bit redundant now!! Anyway, they are all settled and enjoying themselves now so I guess it's time for me to think about what I am going to do with the enormous amounts of free time I have (ha, ha..... :biglaugh:) Actually, I'm helping out in a year 10 textile class at school one afternoon a week as a volunteer and that is great fun!!

Hope they come home this afternoon full of excitement and stories for you!

Will be be picking them up in an hour and I'm looking forward to seeing them and hearing their tales. Must admit though, last week they drove me nuts as they bickered with each other, they were so ready to go back to school. I couldn't wait to have a bit of peace and quiet, but now they have gone it seems strange. I spent the hours sweeping, dusting, washing, tidying, etc, etc. I love the sense of order that has come back to the house. Ahhhh....!

My OH sent me job adverts yesterday. They interview now for posts next year so in principle that sounds fair, gives me time to settle us all in properly. However, the jobs weren't really my thing, also I haven't even received my teaching reg through yet. How long is that meant to take? They wrote to me in March and never heard since! Chasing needed. So not much chance of being a lady of leisure for long then!

I'm baking (again....) apple and cinnamon muffins for when the children get home from school. I have become a bit of a compulsive baker since arriving here as the kids love to come home and find something yummy for afternoon tea..... however, I think I have put on about a stone since arriving so I really need to learn a bit of self control too..... :smile2:

OMG! Porty that is absolutely terrible! Apart from how your family are feeling about invasion and intrusion into your safe home,, Mrs P must be ready to hang, draw and quarter anyone who got to her handbag!!! Pretty nasty window break there so I hope the perpetrator got lots of nice deep and painful cuts.... and I hope that the Police got some good DNA from the blood. Keep positive Porty... sending hugs.... Rossy
