Guest Guest6235
And so many people say that the weather shouldn't make that much difference but it really does. We're a couple of weeks away from the last day of winter but it was 23 deg today. 10% chance of rain and we went for a ride along some of the best singletrack I've ever ridden on. A cruise through the Swan Valley and it's just been stunning. It may not be perfect here but all the stresses seem so much more manageable when the weekend comes around and you're guaranteed lovely weather to relax. Exactly Porty, the weather at least allows you to go for a pleasurable walk or casual bike ride which we like to do. we would put some pack up in the rucksack and it's a free day out apart from maybe a soft drink each. DomDom75
Just about to light up a Ramon Allones and start on my first glass of Angostura 1824. What a lovely weekend. Domestic day yesterday; tended the garden, cleaned out the pond and bought 15 new fish. Went for a ride in Kalamunda this morning, went on to look at a new car and just finished a lovely dinner. Weekends like this are so fantastic. What kind of car are you looking at Matey?
DomDom75
Watching it pour with rain from my living room & thinking about putting a lamp on as it's that dark at 10.45am. This is one of the reasons for the move, you work all week, the weekend comes and it pours with rain. British summertime. Don't you just love it? DomDom75
We won't be doing much more than watching DVDs here. We have strong winds and heavy rain Would it be bad for me to say that it was glorious here - 25 degrees and blue skies xx

flatpack
Reading through PP after an eventful couple of days! It's a very stressful thing is this emigrating lark, here's what's happened since Thursday: Thurs: Woke at 4.30am at the fantastic Radisson at Manchester airport. Get to check in and it takes approx. 40 mins to sort the 40kgs luggage allowance with Singapore Airlines. Staff were great eventually boarded a full 14kgs over with no charge. Friday: Land at Changhai International very tired. Get ferried to stopover hotel to find they have given us a double room with a "free" cot for our 2year old. Wouldn't usually have a problem except SIA wouldn't let us book a double as a 2 year old has to be paid for. We booked and paid for a family room but non were available! Not the end of the world, we'll sort this later. Had quick kip and out to enjoy all Singapore has to offer. Sat: Wake and get breakfast, out all day in Singapore. Fantastic place, I could spend weeks here. Emailed SIA about the room, no reply. Sun: More of Singapore. Back to hotel for pick up back to airport, we were first lift. Next hotel and a retired couple got on so we had a quick chat, they live about 5kms from where we're staying in Perth. Got to check in and have to go through the whole 40kgs luggage malarkey again. Then they say I have no visa attached to my passport, why did you let me board at Manchester was my answer. A few calls to Oz immigration and all sorted. Boarded the plane and the couple from the minibus were sat next to us on the plane, small world! Off to sunny Perth Mon: Land at 00.05am and disembark. Get to duty free and Mrs Flatpack realises she's left her purse and phone on the plane. Security won't let us back on but a very helpful member of staff radioed a through and got the stuff picked up. Went through customs no problems but waited until 3.30am for the purse at lost property. Arrived at my sisters dog tired and slept until dinner time. Spent the rest of the day chilling. Tues: up early to get a hire car, brother in law dropped me of at the train station on his way to work. As he drove away I realised I'd no au$'s left for the fare. Ticket machine wouldn't accept a UK debit card. A really helpful member of staff let me on the train free gratis, he wrote down his name I case I got stopped by an inspector! Picked up the car, bought a child seat (fought with it to attach it to the car, Aussie's really need isofix car seats) Went NAB to activate our account, they printed off loads of proofs of ID, went to Vodafone and got 2 contract sim only plans (easiest thing in the world). Went to Centrelink and registered for Medicare (2nd easiest thing). Went to licensing to sort licenses but need to go back when we have more paperwork. Called into a real estate agent to get the low down on rentals, got chatting to one guy in there who lived less than 5 miles from us in the UK! It then turned out he played golf with the brother in law that we're staying with! Very small world! All in all, a very very stressful few days but everyone we have met on our journey so far has helped way beyond what has been necessary, even the old lady that walked up 3 flights of stairs in a multi-storey to show me how to get to the bank, and then went back down as she didn't need to be up there. Singapore still haven't replied to my email about the room the fiddled me out if but I'll wait a few days before I have to ring someone whose most likely very unhelpful in the UK!
