I'm on both with the same username, tend to post more on pio as I'm in the throw of skills assessment looking ahead to visa, so I've had loads of questions (usually stupid ones!!). I do prefer this site, far more friendly and the folk on here tend to like perth/oz which not all of them do on pio, bit odd for a forum all about oz but hey ho!! I read loads on here and will be posting more as things move along! Glad I joined pp, a very helpful, friendly and welcoming bunch you all are!! I found PIO first but didn't join... just had a look at general info... a couple of weeks agoi I found PP and it looks like I found some sort of family... eveyone going through the same thing and going to the same place... it's great... You'll find that a lot of the ones who dislike Perth haven't actually been lol. I'd like to think we present a balanced view on here, whilst the majority of us like it - we don't pretend that it's perfect and without problems. Guest guest9824 Posted March 26, 2014 Report Share Posted March 26, 2014 I sometimes read some of the stuff on there, but it does become a bit tiresome with the one upmanship, I mean who gives a flying fig really, as long as you are enjoying YOUR life be that here or there, doesn't matter. .....I still have a fondness and love of the UK that would apply no matter where I live, we lived in a lovely area albeit the north west of England, had a good life, never felt unsafe etc, the same applies to here, live in a lovely area, don't feel unsafe, good life, same same.... Rob T I think you are quite right about that in some ways. PIO is very helpful when you are going through the visa stage, moving out....even moving back. But there are many members who have been to Oz and didn't like it, who are here and hate it, or who have never actually been for one reason or another, and they seem to be the ones who are so negative. I think you just have to avoid a few of the contentious threads and all is OK. Plonkers will be plonkers anywhere and there are a few on PIO. There are some of us who have been in Oz for quite a while and found PIO when it first started and have posted on there ever since to help any way we can. Then PerthPoms came along and we have now developed into a great supportive community. We have frank discussions about all sorts of subjects and try to be as supportive as possible of each other, and we tell it as it is, whether you want to hear it or not. Have to agree with all you say Pea.... I normally don't get involved in the angry stuff on PIO, but every now and again I have to have my say.... "because I can" and some of the tossers need a bit of a shot in the knee at times, so I consider I am performing a public service! Much prefer Perth Poms though...
