Only after I've put it through a good filter. There are a lot of chemicals in the main supply so buy yourself a decent filter jug, one that fits in the fridge. We tend to drink a lot of water in the hot Australian climate so this is the safest and most cost-effective solution. Brita filters are one of the best and these are available at stores such as Retravision and Target. They also do a sports water bottle with filter - worth buying for the children.

I can't believe that anyone would buy bottled water in a civilised country. In every Euopean country that I've been in ( probably about 17) and Malayasia, and Dubai I drink whatever anyone else drinks, straight form the tap, sometimes cooled in the fridge. And certainly throughout W.A.

I've been retired for 13 years but when working I used to visit two companies who bottled and sold water. It was mains water which had been extra filterted in their plant. That was the only difference to tap water. Let's be straight, bottled water is a con. The only way that they could make it safer would be to boil it, cool it, then bottle it.

Comments welcome.

WA's water is perfectly safe but can have a 'strong' taste at times; probably similar to varying parts of the UK I would imagine. Bottled water can be fairly inexpensive but cannot see the point tbh, just pour some in a bottle and pop it in the fridge.

Other cons - As an engineer I used to visit just about every type of manufacturing plant. Often the product came off the production line was the same but the label had names of famous brands on. Sometimes the customer specified changes to some of the ingredients and proportions. Probably one of the best that I saw was a clothing factory where the label attached said "Made Exclusively in Paris" The factory was in the north east of England! I was in one factory and heard the comment "Batch --- in the cold store is out of date, strip the packaging and re-package with July's date!" I must add that these were top brand companies which people trusted. Names that slip off the tongue.

You can fool some of the people all of the people all of the time, some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time.

wow...

my MIL is always complaining about stuff that is out of date, she says she doesnt know why they bother putting dates on things, they never used to years ago ! she had a tin of beans out of date by about 6 months, we opened them and they looked fine, she said they are fine and would probably last another 10 years if we hadnt opened them, we have to check the dates of every thing in this house lol ! :-/

i wont eat anything out of date.

It's a good sales gimmick to get you to throw away food and buy some more. There are some items that should not go beyond their sell by date though. My father said that during the first world war they buried several tons of corned beef in France. I bet it would be OK to eat today almost 100 years later.

I don't like the taste of the water here and if you go to Mundaring Weir and do the water corp tour you'll understand why. They periodically dump chemicals in to keep the bugs out and it just gives it a flavour that I don't like.

We have one of these which you fill up from the tap, the filter cleans the nasty flavour away and it's also chilled. Best thing we have in the house, especially on hot days

Have to say I do buy bottled water. I don't like the taste here, pumped with a lot if chemicals. I was very ill in the uk with cryptosporidium (water borne bug) the water corp neglected to tell households the bug was in the system, so we weren't warned about boiiing the water so I got ill, spent two weeks on isolated ward in hospital because they didn't know what was wrong with me, lost over 2 stone in weight in less than two weeks, ulcerative colitis, I was in a bad way, and never touched tap water after that. It was the only way I could have contracted it, young and very old can die from it so it was serious at the time, water corp compensated....not a good time in my life health wise :(

Sorry :biggrin:nothing beats a glass of Dwyr Cymru straight fromt the tap
