I have just emailed my CO and I asked if there was a chance my visa might be processed before the end of this year's allocation and if not could it be anytime during next year's! He has sent me the following reply this morning....

I appreciate your concern about the current situation. Unfortunately I cannot give any guarantee of your application being finalised in any specific timeframe. That said, there is a chance that it might get through by the end of June. As I said before though, I cannot guarantee that.

If it does not get through before the end of June, I cannot see any reason that it would not be finalised between July 2014 and June 2015. Again, I cannot guarantee that.

If you haven’t heard from us by the end of July, please contact us again for an update.

Not really the answer I was looking for but I guess there is still a chance it may be granted soon. I wasn't expecting it to take this long when I look at others who had theirs granted within a week or so but that seems to be before the restrictions came into force about a month ago.

I can completely see your frustration, yours is the longest time from lodgement that Ive seen so far. There has been visas granted with a later lodgement date than yours. I would just like to understand exactly how that could come about!! grrrr. I was thinking last night maybe they are pushing everyone to wait a minimum of 12 weeks from lodgement.. stretch the year out? Who knows... getting very impatient now! :(

Thanks Roxy. I keep thinking 'is it my age?' (42) but then I think my job (social worker) is on the list and apparently in demand. I start to analyse everything and the more it goes on the more anxious I become. It's awful. I lodged last year but to be fair waited a little to have medicals done for when the boys were off school in February but even still, docs uploaded over a month ago now and others were granted within days at the beginning of the year. Oh well, we must try to stay positive and motivate one another. This site really helps. I find I'm not the only one and that's comforting.

To put you waiting time in perspective i recently came across a post on another forum from someone who was a low priority applicant. They had submitted in 2011 and had just recieved an email to say their application was now being processed.

That certainly wouldn't be typical and probably has other circumstances surrounding.

Hi folks - I've been following this thread as we have been in the same situation after receiving the email a few weeks ago stating that there were planned restrictions in relation to the 190 visa application.

Well today we received the good news that our visa had been granted and the documents were sent though by our CO.

Very happy and relieved we are today !!!!!!! I'm sure everyone else will get good news through soon.

Hi Roxy - We started the process in September 2012 and our visa application was lodged on 25th June 2013 after I had passed my IELTS, obtained State Sponsorship and gained my AASW accreditation . My wife was pregnant by this time so our application was put on hold until our wee boy was born in January 14. We underwent our medicals on 4th February 14 before receiving the email advising of possible delays. I contacted my CO and was passed on to a Branch manager. Visa granted today !!!

Congratulations!! what is your nominated occupation? we are eagerly awaiting our grant but getting more frustrated by the day. Wondered if they are prioritising visas for what occupations they are in demand for? My husbands occupation came off the list last October after we had started and applied for the visa but were told this wouldnt affect the outcome as we had already had an invite etc. We had our medicals on the 15th Feb and was told our case was finalised by the CO nearly a month ago but had the email of delays and have heard nothing since...does it help to pester them a little I wonder?:arghh:

Hi Chester 17,

My occupation is a Social Worker which is still on the SOL. We emailed after they told us of the planned restrictions and I got a standard response which I replied to as being un-personal. My next dealing was with a branch manager who said my case was being dealt with yesterday and hey presto visa grant came through this morning. Defo worth pestering them in my opinion !! They only possible difference with our case from the rest is that we were on hold since last June due to my wife being pregnant and I highlighted this to them when emailing.

Hi Chris,

Congratulations for the grant. I have lodged my application on 25th oct'13 but due to some med condition, I could submit all the reports by Feb last week. Received the delay in process mail from CO on 5th march & still my status on immi account is IN PROGRESS. Do you have any idea about change of status to "finalised" when they finalise the application or it will be "in progress" only. Also I have doubt about mailing the CO again, if anyway CO gets upset & this could affect my application... ..

One more thing I never heard about branch supervisor. Who is he???

Thanks in advance.

Hi Roop,

I can can only go on my own experience and I feel that by emailing them direct I managed to make some difference in relation to them making a decision. The Branch supervisor is the manager of the CO's. Again, it may be due to our situation being a wee different due to the fact that we were on hold for 8 months due to my wife being pregnant but I don't know to be honest. As for the change in status, I can't really help you as I never dealt with that side of it and left everything to my agent up until the emails I sent directly over the past few weeks.

Hope this helps,

Chris

Congratulations on the visa grant! I'm a social worker too. I am checking my emails daily and it is driving me crazy! My CO has been great at responding to my emails but still cannot give me any indication if it will be granted before June.

Thanks for the reply chris... I again asked my agent about sending a mail/call to CO but he always tell not to send/call because they will not reply us....but I think I will have to send a mail to my CO as it is the 6th month running for my application & your case has given me some motivation....

Will you please tell me what kind of mail you have written to CO, is it the polite one with detail of your timeframe? Also how could you able to contact to branch supervisor? Your guidance will be of great help to me. This wait is so long & every morning is killing me while checking my inbox....though till afternoon I console myself that my day will also come soon....:)

cheers.
