Mrs&MrW
Congratulations Chris! That's great news!... it is a light at the end of the tunnel for all of us anxiously waiting for the good news. Because of your experience I'll email my agent and give her a chance to contact our CO... if she doesn't want to do it, I'll rebel and do it myself! Yeah I feel I don't always get as much out of my agent as I would like. Think I may start dealing with the CO directly, when one is assigned that is :-D
Chrissyhannah67
Hi Roop, my agent gave me the go-ahead to contact them directly and it appears to have done the trick. My 2nd email must have been passed to the supervisor but I do not know why that was to be honest. With regard to the tone of my emails, my first one was fairly polite asking for a timescale on when the visa may be granted. My Second email was more direct and I informed them that I didn't feel they had answered the questions I had asked and wanted to know. As I said, the next email one day later was my visa grant. Chrissyhannah67
Thanks Mrs&MrW, As I said previously it didn't do us any harm contacting them direct but I guess every case is different. It's just such a relief when you get that piece of paper and you know you're going !!! I'm sure everyone else will not be far behind. moss2oz
Hi, hopefully if it's down to our profession then you'll not be too far behind us !! Have you made any inroads in regard to jobs etc? I've got my CV ready to go but haven't applied for jobs as yet. Time to do that now I guess. :-) I emailed Key Assets who work with foster careers which is what I am doing at the moment. They were advertising a few months ago and they said to contact them closer to the time I am coming over. I am keeping an open mind as I would be prepared to go back to Child Protection for a bit just to get a feel for how they do things very there but ultimately I like to work with children in care or adoption. How about you? Where are you and what are you doing at the moment? Debbie
Chrissyhannah67
Hi Debbie, both my wife and I are social workers up in Glasgow. I work in criminal Justice (Probation)and she's in child protection. I would love to carry on in Criminal Justice but will consider any area to begin with. I'm going to start getting emails out next week now that we have the visa. We have a 2 year old girl & a wee boy at 12 weeks, so my wife would be looking for 2/3 days at most when we go out there. We're pretty lucky as I have a lot of family in Perth and have been back and forward over the years. Totally different this time though with the kids and actually looking for a job in order to live there permanently. chris :-)
jen007
Hi all, I have just e-mailed our CO, after reading these we were sent an e-mail from our CO stating we wouldn't be getting our Visa's until after the 1st July which as totally thrown a spanner in the works for getting things moving, so will have to wait and see if we get anything back, so frustrating!!!!! have a great weekend Jen :ssign3:
fiana
Hi all, I have just e-mailed our CO, after reading these we were sent an e-mail from our CO stating we wouldn't be getting our Visa's until after the 1st July which as totally thrown a spanner in the works for getting things moving, so will have to wait and see if we get anything back, so frustrating!!!!! have a great weekend Jen :ssign3: Hi Jen, Bummer!! In other threads their COs said visa grants have slowed down but did not indicate that they have been stopped! Hope things work out for you. Just curious, did you have to submit a 12 month contract in your 190 application?
sunflower
Hi Jen, Sorry to hear that. We're on the same boat. Our CO wont even bother answering our emails. If you dont mind, can you tell your co's name or initials? Ours is Lisa from Brisbane t34. Your CO is the first person until now, WHO said no grant until july so clearly. If same person, I can forget about moving soon. This wait is getting more annoying every day. This song keeps playing in my head: "Why does it always rain on me?" Chrissyhannah67
Hi folks - obviously things are tough at the moment waiting for your grant, as it was for us up until we received ours on Tuesday. But at least we did receive ours as have a few others over the past couple of weeks which obviously means there still being granted despite what that particular CO is stating. Fingers crossed, Chris
jen007
Hi Fiiana, I don't think we submitted a 12month contract, and hi sunflowers our CO is called Neha from Brisbane T33, must be from different teams I have emailed her but not received anything back yet, the are quick enough to take our money thou. jen x
Mrs&MrW
Hi all... sorry I've been away from PP for a few weeks... still no visa... not much info from agent or CO... just really not happy at all... Thanks @ ChrissHanna and @ Trevnod for the replies.... it's really good to know the visa situation is not completely stopped and congratulations again for this amazing achievement. My parents are here in the UK for a few months... so I'll just make the most of my time with them and let things run its course. Speak to you all soon xx
MUKESH
Hi Guys, Has anybody got the visa in April. I have provided all the docs to CO in feb, 14 but didn't heard from them since then. I am not sure if they are still granting the visa. I am really going restless now. Can't do anything but wait. Good luck!!
Marshel
I've been following this thread and glad to see some people are still getting their visas granted. Our visa has been held up because my medicals have been sent to the MOC, has anyone else experienced this and if so what their time frame is on approving the medical? Really frustrated as it's one thing after another Good luck to everyone still waiting!!
Loubel
Hi, please can someone help me? I'm a mature student who may have the opportunity for a years work experience in Perth. However I have a husband and two children (11 & 9). I haven't got a clue where to start in seeing if it's even viable for us all to live in Perth for a year. Renting somewhere, job for the husband, schools for the kids etc. Please can someone put me on the right track, as it would be an opportunity of a lifetime!! Many thanks

Carney1306
Hi marshel just wondering who did your medical was it your own gp or did you have to go private if so how much did it cost and what happens then??
Marshel
Hi Carney The medicals are carried out using a government approved doctor and it is carried out at a private hospital. I'm in Scotland and the closest is Edinburgh but Manchester could provide us with an earlier date. We went with them and it actually worked out cheaper, for two adults and a child we were between £6-700 can't remember exactly. It's just a general check over by the doctor, you get bloods taken and then a chest xray. It's relatively straight forward!
