We hope we can meet up with some PP in the above area for a beer/wine, I am 39 and my wife is 42 we have no kids and are real easy going people, I am Scottish brought up in Irvine Ayrshire but have been living in N.Ireland with Tracey for the last 8 years.

Hi, I know how you are feeling. We have the packers in next week then fly out on the 11/5/14. Exactly a month after you!

After having months of feeling anxious with a bit of excitement thrown in, I am now experiencing mainly excitement with a little nervousness in the early hours of the morning. My Brain wakes me up at 5am with all the hidden concerns that have some how floated to the surface during the night. As my day continues with all the rushing around they worries fade off.

Still need to book the short term rental but OH seems confident we can get something...fingers crossed. :wideeyed:

So have you been before or have a job lined up, as you know where you are going to settle?

I hope it all goes well for you. Would love to read an as you go account of what you are experiencing. Hopefully once we are there my obsession with trying to see the place through other's eyes will ease!

All the best.

I don't know why but your post really bought back that 'one week to go' feeling. Scary and exciting in equal measure for me.

Hope the travel goes well, you'll have a ball, it's beautiful at the moment, warm in the day, cool at night. WA and the glorious Indian Ocean is waiting for you both.

That made me sigh and smile. Think it was the mention of warmth and Indian Ocean.

The indian ocean conjures up images of exotic holidays on Asian islands. The thought if living near it in a country that speaks English and has all the mod cons sounds too good to be true! Arhhhhh.......there's that lovely feeling again.

We're right in the middle of you both, fly on 17th April, also heading for Mandurah, where my family are.

Exciting times, enjoy your last few days Greig!

We've got two kids and there are some occasions where I would say you are more than welcome to them Deb if you miss having to look after your grand kids all the time

Wait till you arrive. It is magical. When i go home, i cross the dawesville bridge and see the blue ocean and can not help but develop a big grin on my face.

Everything is flying at us too thick and fast at the moment. One more day until the movers arrive. Still have loads to do. We have got our 'safe room' cleared for all the non shipped things to be stored but unfortunately there is nothing in there yet. Spent all day running around in circles, hounded by ebayers asking questions about things they have paid 99p for. I really wished I had not bothered and just given it to the charity shop. My time is worth more.

Been calculating shipping insurance and will be buying it the day before they arrive. Cutting it fine but do-able. Tomorrow I need to start roughly filling what we are to take with us in those suitcases. Clothes for all weather options. Bought a onesie and tried it on tonight. So uncomfortable as it wasn't long enough in the body and shot right up my bottom, felt like I was being sawn in half when I bent over. That's going back tomorrow.

My boys have been thorough neglected today, just told to leave me alone as I was stressed and trying to juggle too much. Very grumpy mummy who just wanders around wondering why I had just entered the room, only to realise what it was once I had wandered into the next one. Stress head. Before I beat myself up too much though, I have to remind myself I did take them out yesterday with their God Mother to see Oxford castle and later the dinosaur museum. Fab day out.

Not it much longer then we can all sigh and relax. Nearly there.

Hugs, I remember it very well! I consoled myself that although the children may have felt neglected in the run up to leaving we would soon be able to spend much more time together as a family and they would be able to run around the beach! It was true - totally neglected children for about a week while the packers packed and last bits were sorted, but then we started our adventure and they have loved it, there is light at the end of the tunnel and it is worth the pain to get there!

I know the feeling sully, that was me a few days ago. A bit of a relief once the stuff is shipped until the next things to sort on the to-do list! hubby has a computer game listed on ebay-99p, someone bids on it then withdrew the bid a few hours later! didn't even know you could withdraw a bid

I remember getting really cheesed off with this. In the end I thought stuff the feedback, my needs are greater. I had someone come to the house to pick up a set of shelves and when she found out I was emigrating and everything had to go she started foaming at the mouth. With just a few days to go she took virtually everything, scouring the house and snatching anything that remained motionless for more than thirty seconds. There were about a dozen items I sold to her that other people had 'won' but I'd not heard from. Some of them then left me bad feedback but I've been here for three years and only used eBay once. It's no biggie, it's not very popular here, Gumtree is free and most people seem to prefer that or the Quokka (Ads paper)
