CuriosPanda
Im in a sticky situations so i dont get my permeant residency till wednesday, but iv had a pilonidal cyst/sinus since Sunday morning and for those who dont know it causes so much pain. It has come to the point where i cant get out of bed because its to painful. Before you say go see a doctor iv been twice and all they keep giving me is pain killers, drugs for infection and drowsy tablets. I know you can get them surgically removed but im pretty sure i cant take out a loan till im a permanent resident. Is there anything else i can do? P.S.i do work full time so i do get income but just not enough for surgery

lozzachino
If you dont have pr are you on a temp visa? On a temp visa are you not required to have private health care? If you have medicare and have been going to the doctor, i would be kicking off and asking for a referral to a specialist instead of painkillers. CuriosPanda
Yeah but whereas I supposed to get the money for a specialist, because I'm pretty sure Medicare won't cover it all?
lozzachino
I think medicare will cover it but you will have to wait if its not an emergency. If its an emergency go straight to a and e. still confused though, do you have private cover or not? Even on private cover you will generally have a gap. So if its not an emergency, and you have medicare, just get on the list for whatever treatment you need.
elizabethkolo
Medicare will cover this. Absolutely. But you need to get on the list for this surgery as soon as possible, because if the sinus becomes infected it can be quite dangerous (as I'm sure you know). elizabethkolo
And I agree with lozzachino about kicking off and demanding a specialist!
Druid
I kicked off with the doctor once, he referred me to a specialist, great me thinks, I called the specialist, the secretary answered the phone, asked what private hospital cover I had, told her non, she hung up, turns out this specialist only does private patients, that's the last time I visited that doctor! elizabethkolo
Oh my gosh! That is definitely not good. I'm guessing you were referred to the unit at St John of God Murdoch?
