jo and scott
hi, what would be the reasons you could fail your medicals ? is there generally a good pass rate ? thanks
Guest guest10912
Medicals are failed if the expected cost of medical treatment over the next three (could be five) years exceeds a certain level. Yes there is a good pass rate.

ali
eek !! scotts ankle is held on with lots of nuts and bolts, so that may well happen !! The thing is to go prepared which generally saves them time asking for you to have additional checks. If you have any conditions (and Scots ankle may be one) - get a letter from your GP/Specialist - my GP provided me with copies of letters from my specialist and my sons consultant wrote a letter for us - you need to include: What the condition is/was Investigations and treatment - is treatment on going and how long will it be for Do you encounter any on going problems What is the prognosis over the next 5 years

JMG79
Cos, your stress'n about it!!! I stressed about ours didnt sleep for weeks, blood pressure was dangerously high, and thought I was going to colapse during the medical!!!! and I still passed So dont worry about it think you have to be terminaly ill, or dead to fail it. Finland
I worried loads about the medicals too. All went fine (phew!!) - but was interesting to find out that BMI > 30 could've caused a Grade B outcome eventhough everything else would've been ok. We found the below document quite helpful in understanding what they're looking for. http://www.immi.gov.au/gateways/panel_doctors/conducting_medicals/instructions/panel-doctors-instructions.pdf Edited April 21, 2014 by Finland
