I was surprised VS hadn't really met anyone off here until the other week. I do think there has been an awesome group on here over the last 18 months and it would be great to put names to faces and actually meet more of you  The few I've met so far have all been lovely people and I feel and hope I've really clicked with a few of you  I know there have been a few meet ups in the city but it's not been possible for us with 3 kids in tow. In fact as I'm writing this I'm thinking if I should arrange a family friendly meet up at the Pirate Park in Applecross. It's central, there's a great little cafe for the grown ups, fantastic views of the river and I'd say kids 12 and under would all love it.

Ah I might have to pop over that way when I'm out for work next week! May well need a coffee break - although I only drink tea! Just make sure you don't run out like the one in ellenbrook did last week!!

Sounds good Nikki and don't worry we have tea-a-plenty at Scarbs along with pretty amazing views.

How about Saturday afternoon 28 June or Sunday 29 June and we'll hope the weather forecast is sunny?

I'll start a thread just for it and see who would be interested. Sunday late morning may be better as a lot of kids activities seem to be on Saturday. They do great fish and chips there...just have to watch out for the seagulls :biglaugh:

  • 9 months later...
@Cliomarie, @portlaunay, found it!! This is the thread I was talking about that followed on from my thread, 'Moving to Perth, so many questions'. I have seen it myself for ages. When I get a minute I should read through it to see just how far we have come in 10 months. As I said, this may help you see that anxiety is all part of the process but perfectly normal too. Good luck.

Just found it. It is called, 'Count down to launch date'.

I bumped it, so it should be easily available, if anyone wishes to read it. I started to look through it last night and got to page 14 before I had to go to sleep. It was fascinating to read my own account of those final days of leaving and those first days of arriving. I had tears in my eyes. I had forgotten a lot of it and it made me realise that we have achieved so much and settled so well. I also now realise that I was being too hard on myself and expected to feel instantly happy but instead just felt overwhelmed and flat. however, with the support I got on here, it made it easier. I wondered where many of the people who chatted to me at the time, have gone. Will interesting to find out.

That thread, and this one have made me smile and it is so Lovly to hear your experiences... And I can just picture myself there with the vodka and ginger beer sundowner ;-) Seriously I feel like I know you all and it is wonderful to have so much in common with people that 'get' what we are doing!

@odies, that's fantastic news. I look forward to meeting you in the flesh after all this time. Remember when I thought you were a man?!

I have my my in laws over visiting until the end of April so will be tied up until then. However, once back into a normal routine (after moving into our new home), we will have to meet up for sure. Keep me posted. X
