Matt&beck
Yes it was my 1st attempt but I feel very lucky, I wasn't confident and certainly didn't find it easy. It's funny because the elements I thought I'd done worst in, I did best and vice versa. I did look at a lot if online preparation stuff beforehand but other than that I can only say don't give up and good luck! There were a couple of fellas at mine who were returning to get required grades.
aza870
hi i have just sat my ielts general test for my 190 visa and was just wondering if anyone knew how many points i need on the test score? thanks!
Keith
If your under 32 years of age you would require a min of 7 in each test, if your 33 onwards its a min of 8 in each test! Good luck with your results.
wild rose
If your under 32 years of age you would require a min of 7 in each test, if your 33 onwards its a min of 8 in each test! Good luck with your results. It's not about age, It depends how many points yours claiming for everything else. My hubby is 36 but as he's claiming 8 years work experience he only needed 7s in the IELTS. In fact, if you can accumulate enough points elsewhere and u have a uk passport you may not have to do IELTS at all xx
aza870
thank you for your help ive sat my first ielts and found it very tough i dont think i would be able to get 8 in every section i was told i need 60 points and this would get me 10 points. i coulnt go through that many more times : (
aza870
also i found out that it is the 189 visa im going for. Is there any way you can gain points rather than an english test? i have a uk passport. thanks
Keith
It's a nightmare! I'm going for my third IELTS on the 21st, I'm in a position were I have to gain the extra points for the 189 visa, it's one of those things were you can't give up to get your dream life! With this visa we are both going for its the golden visa to gain , my agent advised me the only other option would be a state sponsored visa which requires a job offer. If you reach 33 your points are effected they will reduce by 5 points then you will need an 8 in each section ?

Keith
Your not the only one to think its tough, you could be worrying for nothing it's the stress of the whole process with that on top it just adds to the strain, you could have passed and then your onto the next stage, I find the reading the hardest I scored a 8 in all sections then a 6 in reading so Ive found my weak area and I'm reading every minute spare I get, do you manage to complete all the questions?
