Druid
We are happy with the 20 days after speaking to them. Even before I questioned it, they said they could "throw" it up in about 7 days. Or take 20 and give us a very high quality product. Given we have looked at lots of builds and wonder round the sites (one is going up round the corner that is almost identical to ours) and have thought a lot of the brick work is incredibly poor. I will take the 20. At A $1.20 a brick can't see them dragging yours out from 7 to 20 days, the brickies will have to work in slow motion, it will look like a UK building site, tea break every 30 minutes

Nikkis2000
So exciting!! You have to post some piccies when they make progress!
verystormy
My wife is going to put a blog together. I can't get my iPad to post pics on here. Don't know why. We met the building supervisor today and he was very nice and talked us through things. Though shattered my faint hope of being in for Christmas. It looks like march - probably back of at that. Given we learnt on Wednesday that the owners of our rental are putting the house on the market, I could have done without that. The plus was I visited the chap who will be our next door neighbour and his build was recently finished by the same builders and he is ecstatic with the build quality. His is a very similar design and so interesting to see and it is stunning.

Nikkis2000
Do you know when you're brickies are due to start? We're still waiting in our drawings and trying bit to get too impatient!
Druid
Do you know when you're brickies are due to start? We're still waiting in our drawings and trying bit to get too impatient! Slab has to sit for three weeks now apparently, then there's a shortage of brikkies, there's another house being built up the road from ours by the same builder, we hoping when those brickies have finished they will come down the road to us
Rossmoyne
Annoying stuff eh? Daughter and SIL have had so many issues with Landgate over the land title as their block was originally part of a farm... so lots of surveyors and property developers and builders etc all putting their oar in.... Landgate it seems are still waiting on the final set of plans from the surveyor and saying it could be 6 to 8 weeks away! From the original timeline that the developer/builder put out, the slab should have been put down by the end of July. Guessing my house guests will be here a lot longer than they thought they would, but the upside is that they are saving money as Mummy doesn't charge rent... just share the bills !!! Nikkis2000
And Mummy gets her girl to stay a bit longer eh Rossy? Or are you starting to crave your own space again? Seriously - bit of a pain for them. Have they been given any indication of when it might go through?
Give me a break!
Slab has to sit for three weeks now apparently, then there's a shortage of brikkies, there's another house being built up the road from ours by the same builder, we hoping when those brickies have finished they will come down the road to us Why 3 weeks? Ours was 1?
verystormy
They say 3 weeks to give them some room while trying to get brickies. The next stage will be they will Dona "tidy up". Then the footings get put in. Then the bricks and steel work will be delivered. Then the portable toilet and things. Then the rest of the materials. From our slab down to the brickies starting was just over a month. Slab down was 24 June. Brickies started 31 July.
Rossmoyne
And Mummy gets her girl to stay a bit longer eh Rossy? Or are you starting to crave your own space again? Seriously - bit of a pain for them. Have they been given any indication of when it might go through? Looking like another 6 weeks before Landgate issue the title ... so frustrating. In some ways it works out much better for me as I am going back to UK for a few months early next year, and it means that I don't have to find any other house/animal sitters. I miss my solitude and tidy uncluttered house, but love having them around, so it is swings and roundabouts stuff.
Druid
They not building in Ellenbrook are they, I have a mate who was supposed to get title in April, he's still waiting & getting more frustrated by the day, the builder has just stung him with a new financial year price rise, he's not happy, one good thing about buying a block of a big developer like Peet & Satterley, you get title when they say you going to get title. Rossmoyne
No they aren't building in Ellenbrook and are building with a big company, but the issue is the land surveyor employed to lodge the paperwork with Landgate. Seems they have stuffed up and the builder is as annoyed as we are, but we are in the hands of the developer and his surveyor it seems! verystormy
We have about half of our walls now! All of one side, half the front, half the interval walls. There is no back wall. So praying for ongoing good weather.

Nikkis2000
Rubbish! [emoji20] Hope they sort it out by the time we get to that stage!
verystormy
It is bad for brickies at the moment. My site supervisor said he needs at least another 3 teams as a minimum. But no chance of finding them. We only have one guy on his own. No laborer. Just one young lad. Though he is doing a fantastic job - another brickie was visiting yesterday to quote for the wall between us and the neighbour and mentioned how good a job he is doing. But it is taking time! Druid
I get frustrated when I see brikkies or any tradie for that matter on here struggling to find a job or sponsorship, it almost like the contractors here in Perth have closed ranks and are protecting there patch, they just won't employ anyone, and it's nothing to do with quality, UK brikkies build in face brick 99% of the time so the quality has to be good! here most of the brickwork is rendered to quality is not a problem as it's gets covered up with cement. verystormy
We were able to walk through our front door last night! No actual door, but the frame is in and the exterior walls pretty much complete and about half of the interior. It is starting to look like a house! Nikkis2000
Our site costs are done! Only a couple of weeks to contracts. We've asked if we can book pre-start now so we can plan a trip away without delaying anything. Fingers crossed we might have a date by this time next week!!! verystormy
Pre start is fun. Though a bit deflating after as all the planning is done and it is all waiting game. A bit like the visa process.
