evie2007
Hi, been for an interview and they said if I got the job, they would offer me a permenant visa that would be applied for in March 2015 and it takes roughly 8wks to complete. The job would then start in November when the hospital opens. Do u think we would be able to go as soon as the visa is granted or would we have to wait till November seeing as this is employer nominated? Thank u! rob-c
Which visa are they offering you, are you sure it's not a 457 sponsored visa which is temporary but can sometimes lead to a permenant visa ? I'm no expert but I don't know of employers being able to give away permenant visas to staff as I said, I may be wrong, if it is 457 there is no guarantee of it being made permenant
verystormy
Employers can nominate for PR visas from the go. I would be a little surprised if it could be processed within 8 weeks though. Can you tell us what visa they are nominating you for?

Can you tell us what visa they are nominating you for? I'm not sure!! They said permenant, they pay for it and it's quick. I said I didnt want 457 due to the school fees. I've had a google and if it is employer nomination scheme you have six months from visa approval to starting work. I was surprised with the 8wk thing but she seemed sure! ali
Perhaps contact them Evie and just ask what visa it is - there may also be obligations in the contract that you have to stay with them for a set period of time (e.g. 2 years).
flatpack
My sister got PR from the off under the Labour Agreement (which I think has now ceased) so it is possible. The lucky cow got her visa for nothing and ALL her relocation costs paid for (her job isn't in demand)!! My other sister and I on the other hand have had to pay $1000's to get our visas and we're on the sol list!! Work that out:wideeyed:
Wimpy69
My husband and I (and kids) came to Australia in 2011 with an Employer Nomination Scheme Subclass 121 (PR) Visa, the company paid for everything (we had refused to move over with the 457 visa option) and the process from start to finish only took 12 weeks, that included applying for police checks from 3 different countries and having medicals done etc... It was actually only 5 weeks from the date the complete application was lodged with immigration department to us receiving our PR grant letter. The offshore ENS 121 visa has now been replaced with ENS Subclass 186 visa, not sure if this is the one that you are being offered, but it would definitely be better than the 457 option! * Only conditions we had on our visa grant letter was that we (kids and I) did not enter Australia before the main applicant (my husband) and that we all entered Australia within 9 months of receiving the grant letter. Oh wonder if it's a 186 then!!? I'll wait till my refs are in and if I'm offered it I guess! Feel bit awkward asking details when I may not get it!! Hopeful
I have recently got a 186 Evie, it can take 6-7 months to process and the 6 months bit is that you have to apply for your visa within 6 months of the employer nomination going in. I put mine in 5 days after the employer lodged theirs and it took 9 weeks to approve.
