clairej456
hi !! I am undecided whether to go it alone or use an agent. Both Concept and Go Matilda sound good and really helpful on the phone however unsure whether to go ahead with one of them. One is £1500 and other is £1800. Any thoughts ??!!! Derbygirl42
I think you can defo do t on your own my brother and sister both did but I wanted for it to be as pain free as possible. I went with an agent who are fine and I'm reasonably happy with everything. I did speak to go Matilda and thought they were excellent in hindsight wish I'd gone with them. Think it was Marina who I spoke to.
clairej456
I think it is all the forms and evidence u need and finding the time to get it all organised which bothers me ! It's a big decision plus they are not cheap ! I hope I hear my stories so I can make my mind up ! Thanks for for the reply
Hopeful
I went it alone, and work full time and so long as you read carefully and collate all your info systematically it's really not difficult.
EmsyEss
Hi Claire, my husband works in hospitality and we went through the process with an agent. Mainly because his career isn't as 'black and white' as a lot of professions are when it comes to the process and we were both in busy full time 50-60 hour per week jobs and secondly I became pregnant so it was a bit too much for us to handle :-) We went through Visa Bureau and they have been fantastic. I'm unsure of the two companies you mention but I think it personally depends on your situation, how much time you have free etc. You will definitely get a lot of support and help through these forums either way :-) Good luck! odies
just a thought would you not have to find the forms and complete forms any way ? lots of help on here.
verystormy
Personally I am a fan of using agents. I have seen a huge amount of people have problems and lose a lot of money over the years by making simple errors in the process. In the grand scheme of things there fee is small. I look at it like this. Would you use the Internet to diagnose your medical problems and buy your own drugs or would you go and seek the advice of a proffessional. As for which one. I can only comment on Go Matilda who have a very high reputation and post on here to help people regularly.
abc
I think it depends on you, if you have a good understanding of the process, & the whole visa application, then do it yourself. However if like me you are clueless & it's all to complicated, use an MARA Registered agent. You could save yourselves a lot of money, time & heartache! Jim Shorts
Hi Claire, we used Go Matilda and was really happy with the service! Very professional and efficient. Always answered my emails timely and I could call them whenever I had concerns. Personally, for such an important decision and move, we felt we needed to use a migration agent. We are now in Perth and loving it! Good luck
Chook
Concept, Go Matilda and Visa Bureau constantly come up with good ratings and they have all been around for a long time. The difference in price is not great so perhaps go through their contracts to compare the services each provide and make a decision based on that. You have narrowed it down to a few good agents and I am sure you will not go wrong with any of them. Good luck.

I am still really unsure, I really want to use an agent but then think well that money could pay for a flight or something ! So much easier someone else been able to do most of the hard work ! jac2011
Are your occupations ones that are simple or ones that could be a little bit trickier in achieving skills assessments and visas for? For example, I am a nurse so there is masses of info on this site and I am going to attempt to use the info on here for my application. However, if your occupation is not as clear it may be worth while. Also, you are the only one that knows how tight finances will be. If there is room for the extra then do it, if you are tight then accept that you will need to find the time and do the research to do it yourself. clairej456
Hi I am a nurse also. Just not much experience as yet. We have the money to pay for all the visas and added extras so it's the money for flights and for when we get there. I not sure exactly how much we may need. I swaying towards using an agent and hope they can get us organised! It's a scary step to take as that means the ball is rolling then ! <Dan>
We used Visa Bureau, very helpful and efficient. I would use them again if I had to (I don't but if I did)
Kermit
I cant comment about Concept but we are coming towards the end of the process with Go Matilda and they have been really helpful.!
flatpack
The whole do we use an agent or not debate will run forever but I think you have to think about your own circumstances and make your decision from there. Remember an agent won't do everything for you, they will tell you what evidence you need to gather and it will be up to you to do the legwork. They fill the form in and collate the paperwork, you do the rest! I was initially going to use an agent but filled in the EOI myself and found it was incredibly simple, so I had a go at the State Sponsorship, it's all online and incredibly easy. If you have all the information to hand, which I had as I had done my research of what was needed. When it came to doing the application for the visa, I did it online and saved it for a whole week before I decided to submit. I did it that way as I found it so simple to do I thought I must have missed something. Our case was as straight forward as they come as it happens. My sister and her husband tried to do theirs without an agent and failed, it cost them an arm and a leg as not only did they have to pay an agent they also had to pay all the associated visa fees again! Ask yourself these questions 1. Is your case straight forward or do you know of complications? 2. Are you prepared to do the research online? Using the immi web site, forums and google? 3. How confident are you at filling the online application forms? 4. Cost, can you afford NOT to use an agent? Hope this helps
