Vegan/vegetarian friendly friends and restaurants near Butler please

Recommended Posts

Hi, My hubby and I are in our early/mid forties and have recently started eating a vegan diet after watching the documentary Forks over Knives. We are absolutely loving the new lifestyle but like eating out, and apart from The Raw Kitchen in Freo we haven't found anywhere locally that does a good choice in vegan food.

Anyone know of anywhere else?

Thanks in advance

Sharon

Sorry, all of my suggestions are going to be Freo too and you've already been to one of the best places.

There is another on the other side of the High St in Freo. It's down a laneway, next to a pizza place, The Juicy Beetroot cafe it's called. A little more grungy than RK but great food.

Manna Wholefoods on South Terrace in Freo does some great veggie lunches.

The Greenhouse in the city isn't exclusively veggie but their veggie options are lovely.

Welcome to PP

In case you don't have any luck on here, have you tried searching for vegan bloggers in Perth? I'm still in the UK so no help specifically but I have a few friends that blog about subjects they're passionate about and one couple blogs about food and shares reviews on where to eat out as they follow a very specific diet. They've got some great feedback and although they've not been blogging for long I could see how they could end up meeting people through it.

Hi Sharon, welcome to NOR, we have only lived here 3 months, so cant help you with vegan advice for eating out, however there is a group of pp members who meet up once a month approx. to social. It is on the thread Oldies, and new people join us - we have only met twice so far in the city, but the sat 5th July we are meeting in the Sovereign arms in Joondalup at 7.30. If you want to come along please feel free, just let us know if you are coming so we look out for you or will pm our mobile for contact on the night. Sheri.

We have lived in Perth since 2006 but only recently moved to Butler from Secret Harbour, so don't know anyone up here at all. We don't have any kids so don't meet people the way families usually do.

We would love to hear from like minded people who would like to meet up for a drink at the local pub or anyone with any ideas on where to eat.

Thanks in advance

Sharon

Hi Sharon most places will offer vegetarian options the only place I can think of that may be vegan would be the curry place next to the lucky shag on the esplanade in the city. I know it comes recommended from a veggie friend of mine. And as Sherri says there's a meet up in Joondalup on the 5th a few of us usually go and there's also a coffee meet up no date as yet but hopefully before the kids break up from school
