Raychelsb
Has anyone used this route to get to Perth? It is coming up with the best price for the dates we want, £511 one way but reviews of the connections in Abu Dhabi sound awful!
sunflower
Hi, we booked our tickets with Etihad. Flying from Istanbul to Perth on 1st september. There is 2 hour transit in Abu Dhabi. For us the connection times are great, we depart in the afternoon from Istanbul, and arrive in Perth the following afternoon. 17 hours total travel time. They had the best price for our route. We paid 1440 aud for 2 people one way. It's good airline, quality is similar to Emirates and Qatar Airways. Qatar and Emirates may have better connection times. Because Qatar has around 4 flights Daily from Heathrow, one (or maybe two) flights from Gatwick and also from Manchester. Same with Emirates. So you can choose between different transit options. I'd suggest you to check Malaysian, Cathay Pacific and Singapore as well. Have a safe flight
Chrissyhannah67
Hi, we've booked with them too. We fly out September from Manchester via Glasgow. Couldn't argue with the price and the airline gets a good name - It was a no brainer in the end but hoping its a smooth transfer !! Scot01
My 18 year old son flew with them yesterday and I asked him how the flight was. His reply " brilliant, they have a window in the toilet so I had a pee looking down on Shanghai at 30,000 feet"!!!
beandownunder
we're flying with them in oct on our reccie, two hours stopover in Abu dhabi from Manchester. price was great, hoping flight is too however we have nothing to compare it to so I'm guessing it will be fine! x
sunflower
Etihad is part owner of Emirates. Their uniform is similar too. When I was a flight attendant at Qatar Airways, I applied for Etihad. They made a video presentation about the airline and the city, etc. It looked really great. Then I didn't accept the job as my husband was transferred to Qatar. But there are loads of Qatar crew resigning to go to Etihad. As an insider I'd say happier crew happier passengers. On the other hand Qatar and Malaysia is oneworld partners like Qantas and Cathay Pacific. So you can use your miles flown at Qatar in Qantas or any other partner. Likewise Etihad has partnership with Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand. If I told you how many people get upgraded because of holding a frequent flier membership card, you won't believe. So whichever one you pick, get a membership card. You never know one day you may get an upgrade because of overbooking In short, you will get a more or less similar service in Qatar, Etihad and Emirates. Doha airport is brand new, Dubai is also a few years old, AbuDhabi is the oldest but I find it quite nice. All have excellent duty free, prices very similar. These 3 guys are in constant competition for the past 10 years. That's why Etihad is now flying to Perth. Check the best prices, shortest transit time and whatever is important for you. Debbie Medhurst
We have booked our flights for Novemeber flying out midweek (cheaper). We are flying out from Heathrow to Abi Dabi and then connecting flight to perth and arrive at lunchtime.. Sounds perfect timing, the price was reasonable too and I recently have had a conversation with a pilot who works at BA and said the airline is good.
