<Dan>
Seeing the price of the Samsung Double Fridge at Currys and having already looked in Perth online for the same thing as we are not shipping our rubbish one. I wanted to make sure that like the UK, renting a house means you bring your own white goods? Thank you! Dan
Weedolly
Yup you do, you might get a dishwasher in the property but apart from the oven and hob thats usually it.
Druid
How much is a new one in Currys vs Perth, bet it's half price in Currys, if you do bring a new one, make sure you unbox it, customs can get a bit anal and charge you duty on it
<Dan>
Its about £250 / $450 cheaper if we by in the UK. We weren't taking out old fridge as its old and knackard so we going to need to buy one in Perth. But we are going to be on a budget! so if we can save a few quid now. Waiting to hear from Doree Bonner to see how much more it will costs to ship / if we have room.
Druid
It's good to have a fridge that had cold water & ice on tap over here, it gets bloody hot in summer
ali
Just check the warranty is valid if you're buying in UK but shipping to Aus
<Dan>
Im undecided now anyway as the size isn't as big as the Australian version.
Lou8670
Often the price advertised in Oz isn't the price you pay. We went to Good Guys for our Samsung 580L double fridge with ice and water dispenser and compartment for bottled drinks to save you opening the fridge door. It was $1800 in another shop reduced to $1580 and in the end we paid just under $1300 as they will look at the cheapest competitor and beat their price. Druid
We bought a double fridge from Good Guys, saw it a week later in Kambos for less
kibanje
I was told not to take our fridge as it probably wouldn't work that well in perth considering the heat and you would have to crank it up to get it properly cold hence use loads of electricity. ali
Im undecided now anyway as the size isn't as big as the Australian version. The other thing is will it fit? We had quite a narrow space in our house for our fridge/freezer and took us ages to find one here.
Lou8670
We bought a double fridge from Good Guys, saw it a week later in Kambos for less That's annoying! Good Guys have a 30 day price guarantee where they'll match the price if you see it cheaper elsewhere within 30 days.

Excuse my ignorance but, surely the house is Air Conditioned therefor not really hot and a fridge is a fridge and will do the same job in Aus as it would in the UK? Not all are air conditioned. Only relatively new ones have ducted cooling and a lot of older ones might only have a split system in the living area or no air conditioning at all. This maybe so, but how is the refrigerant in an Australian Fridge different to a UK fridge. It uses the same gas, compressor, condenser etc etc? Oh and yes I do have a lot to learn but so far every house I have been in in Perth has had AC

LOL I know you didn't but the thread is about Fridges! and apparently in Australia they work differently so I shouldn't buy one here and take with us. So confused..... So confused..... I cant see why you cant bring one, but personally I would wait till you see what house you rent/ buy and see what space you have. I wanted a big double one but no space in the first rental, so just got a normal fridge freezer, 2nd house ok, third house gap was huge could have had 2 fridges, this house, space not tall enough had to take an overhead cupboard out. Akasully2
Warranties often are invalid if you move to another country. Found this to be true on many different products. I would wait until here. We have found things to be much cheaper than originally stated whilst we were in the UK. The sizing thing is an issue too. The gaps vary so much. Druid
Our 10YO Hotpoint worked perfectly for another 2 years upside down in Australia ......................., maybe that's why Australian fridges are different, all the gubbins is mounted upside down in China, then when it gets to Australia, it's the right way up............. <Dan>
Well, I went down to Currys at lunch to take a look at it. Im glad I did, the one on offer is cheaper than the cheapest in Perth, but a much lower model and it didn't jump out at me and say 'buy me'. Saying that, another one did which is the one for sale in Perth at $1599 or in Currys for £1299 on offer.... So as advice said, best to wait and see how much space etc and just buy it when we arrive. Thanks all

You need two fridges here in Aus anyway, one for food related stuff & one for beer related stuff, my wife freaks about running two fridges, a mate of mine has 4, one for food & 3 for beer
