It's a busy and buzzing Italian where you can see the food being prepared and pizzas going into the pizza oven. Love Sandrino in Freo. Been going there for a few years and never had a bad meal, great thing is it's open all day through to late at night. For the best Indian restaurant in Perth " The Royal India' on Hay street West Perth is hard to beat. portlaunay Posted August 5, 2014 Report Share Posted August 5, 2014 I'd like to add a couple of mentions for breakfasts; Tuck Shop Cafe, Newcastle Street, Northbridge. Went there today for the first time and it was excellent. Okay, so one visit isn't much to make a recommendation but it was packed, the meals looked superb and they were uber friendly too. Really interesting menu too and the black pudding with grilled tomato, salsa and poached eggs was excellent. Can't wait to go back and try the rest. Typika, Stirling Highway, Claremont. One of those painfully trendy places full of people who try too hard but don't let that put you off, the coffee and the food are lovely. Forget it at the weekends, you'll wait an age for a table but a weekday brunch is quieter and service swifter. Don't expect too many smiles from the staff though, they're too busy trying to look cool and you're so not worth it! I don't paint a pretty picture but the smoked cod and baked eggs is one of my favourite breakfasts and the Huevos Rancheros is spiked with enough chilli to give you a decent kick in the morning. And if it is, is it because it's a lot more expensive or because the life style is different and you don't feel the need to eat out as much? This is a very good thread... here in the UK we tend to eat out quite a lot (using vouchers 99% of the time), and we are wondering if we would feel the need to go out as much there in Oz? Not necessarily dinner; breakfast and lunches mainly, largely because the kids are in school so we can eat for less. Certainly in Freo there are some good deals on without the need for vouchers. Being a big sports fan, I imagine a lot of my time will be in there watching Arsenal! Don't expect a high standard in a casino, due to the expectations created by my local casino in the UK, just looking for something to fill a 90 minute hole! Claudette Posted August 6, 2014 Report Share Posted August 6, 2014 For people venturing NOR... Kulcha Cafe in Joondalup is great for Asian fusion food - chinese/thail/vietnamese/malaysian. Always busy, really reasonable and are liscened plus BYO. Also, Elixor Cafe in Wanneroo Central is great, it's situated in the library. I've had breakfast and lunch there and both have been amazing. Not because I don't think they'd be welcome, I just don't think they'd appreciate Pillows of summer cloud gnocchi floating upon a tepid bath of unicorn tears (or something). We were a large group with some small children and the restaurant was chosen by the birthday boy because they have a child's play area (behind glass to keep the noise down).... It is a large restaurant and a bit noisy, but the food was excellent with a large menu that wasn't priced over the top. I couldn't fault the service either as nothing was too much trouble for our waitress. Perhaps not a place I would go to if I wanted a quiet meal, but for those with children it would be OK.
