MrPomPom
Can I take a number of UK extension bars and then put a plug adapter on the end to fit into an Australian plug socket (3 slant pins I believe)? If so, is this safe for all electrical appliances including washing machines, TV's, Games Consoles etc?
Druid
That's what I do, but for every day use I changed the plugs on my washing machine kettle etc, all my TV, DVD, PS3 etc goes into an English power board with a Aussie plug on it, same goes for the office with printers computer lamps etc. As appliances break they go in the bin and we go buy Aussie with plugs on, so slowly things are changing to Aussie
verystormy
Yep, just pop into Bunnings when you get here - it is the same as B&Q and buy Oz plugs. The electrical system is the same.
Plimthing
just make sure you get the correct amp rated plug from bunnings! Majority of your uk stuff will be 13 amp so make sure you get the similar rated oz plug. 13 amps passing through a 3/5 amp plug will slowly melt the plastic. Arwen
Please be aware you may be on dodgy ground with regards to home insurance if non Australian powerboards were found to be the cause of any fire.
