Good bye container, see you on the other side of the world!

Well I'm feeling a lot less stressed today. The build up to the container coming is one of the most stressful times I think I've been through. The preparation started 6 weeks ago by trying to de clutter and eBay things but this last week has been exhausting. We are using Crown Relocation on a 40 ft container which went yesterday. The packers arrived on Tuesday and worked really hard , Ian and Martin were brilliant and really helpful. Crown were one of the most expensive but I think the service thus far has been excellent. Fingers crossed for the other end. The container just about fit on the drive and was here for 4 hours so the lads had to really move to get it all done. It was a bit touch and go whether it would all fit but thankfully it did. God knows how people find space for a car in there as well but I do have 4 children so maybe that's why it was a bit tight! We fly on Monday to Dubai before landing in Perth on Saturday and I'm looking forward to relaxing before the madness starts again!

We also waved our container off yesterday. Ours was a 20 ft one which had a little room left in it. Wife wish she could of done some more shopping to fill it up. We will see it again in roughly 8 weeks time and in that we have to arrive and find a long term rental to put it in. Exciting and nervous times to come.

Funnily enough about the shopping , whilst the container was being packed on the drive I couldn't resist the shops for a few last minute bits and pieces. Bought headboards, more bedding and snorkelling gear in a supermarket sweep style shopping trip. I realise this last sentence probably explains why we needed a 40 ft container! Wonder who's will arrive first? Who are you using? Ours was going straight to Southampton and I'm sure the rep said the ship to Perth sails on a Saturday so in theory it could be on its way today.

It's amazing how a bit of a me day makes everything seem so much better. I've a bit of a bad head this morning and very sore feet but it was lovely to have a good dance with all the girls, a great bunch that will be sorely missed!

So funny, I've turned into the nagging stressed wife from hell over the passed two weeks and this is from a couple that hardly ever argue. It was hubby's and sons birthday whilst the packers were here and our 18 wedding anniversary but we were too busy to celebrate so were going to have belated celebration in Dubai instead! The sense of relieve when the container went was huge so good luck for the final few days!

We are using Anglo Pacific, i have the ships name and i can track it online. Although we got told it leaves on Saturday i have looked on line and according to this ships schedule it only departs the UK on the 6th which is next Saturday. Although not too fussed as it gives us more time to find a permanent rental. Where are you setting up base when you arrive?

Wow, and I thought I was having a stressful time. Good luck with the new job. It will interesting to hear how things go at the other end because the shipping companies all seem to put everyone off a self pack by saying customs will go over everything with a fine tooth comb. We fly to Dubai today so all very excited!

Shippers come Tues and container leaves Wed just cleaned all my tools and have stunk house out with Jeyes Fluid even though I did it outside whoops lol

Gaz

It's evil stuff isn't it! I think we went a bit OTT with the cleaning according to the packers but then again I did get my husband to Milton sterilising fluid over one hundred pairs of shoes! We have arrived now to terrible over night storms and I will post my arrival report when I get a chance! Good luck with the move!
