damos22
Has anyone had any luck with an EE locked phone working on any of the Australian networks? Orange won't unlock my phone and online I'm looking at hundreds of $ to get it done. They piggy back back the Telstra network but I don't think that means I can simply use a telstra sim but this is not my field of expertise! Hopeful
Just taken Vodafone 9 days to get mine unlocked but they did it and I've now got a working phone again. The web chat was the best way to get it sorted do orange have that function available?

damos22
Unfortunately it's not a case of I can't get in touch with them, I have spoken to orange and they cannot/will not do it. With the amount of wifi in this place I can handle it for now but the not having a phone to make calls is an issue. I don't want to have two phones and I don't want to lump out loads on a new phone. I will have to grin and bare my current situation I guess. Thanks as always guys.
louisef
I was with EE/Tmobile and they did send an unlocking code - have a look on their website and there will be an mail address for unlocking codes - it takes about a week and cost £20 - we then had to update with iTunes ( or something like that ! ) but if you ve got an iPhone the Apple store were very helpful : )
damos22
Unfortunately as I touched upon I have spoken to orange and they cannot/will not unlock my phone. I am not paying the $200+ to unlock so I imagine I will just wait and buy an unlocked iphone 6 in a few weeks!
flatpack
In the UK, all networks have to unlock phones if you ask them to! It a euro directive, they can however charge you to do this and they can make you wait until your contract period is up. As it is your phone not theirs, they only subsidise the cost of the handset but once you are out of your minimum term the have no hold over the handset. Have you left whilst still in your contract term or do you owe them money? If the answer to both is no then ask them why they won't unlock it? If it's an iPhone then don't bother paying to get it unlocked as only Apple can do it permanently (EE get the unlock from Apple) and if you pay someone to unlock it then the first time you update it, it will be locked to EE again and you will be back at square one! damos22
I appreciate people trying to help but as I say I have spoken to them and they can't or more won't do it, they only unlock phones that people buy directly from them with the sim you use in it as it were. I bought this phone when my phone died out of warrantee then put my sim in it. So flawed and very annoying.
