Should I stay or should go??

Hi all

Ive got the opportunity of moving to Western Australia for a job there. Now it's become a reality tho, I'm having some doubts. I need to weigh everything up to make a decision so have a few questions I hope you can help me with.

i don't know where i'd be moving to yet. I would know exactly where I'll be posted until after i accept the job, sort out visas etc. I live in a city in the UK and prefer that to small town life, so the ideal would be Perth. On that, is it feasible to expect to be able to live alone in my own property (rent this eventually buy) or is it too expensive. Ideally I'd want a decent area and a house, 2-3 bed. Say if I was on take home pay of approx $4000 a month. (I know it's still difficult to say, but any ideas?).

Im kind of imagining it's like London here, in which I would never be able to afford my own place, especially not alone.

What are the next biggest cities like-in terms of size, population, distance to Perth, faculties/leisure activities?

What do you do for holiday/breaks away/days out?

Here I'm surrounded by nice places to visit for a day out, within 1 hour drive, maybe 2. If I want a weekend away, I can fly to Europe in a couple of hours

What would I do over there? It's so remote, is there anywhere to get away to? I like variety you see, and different places.

HI

I cannot offer advice on property, but, for what its worth here is my input:

Do you actually have a desire to live and work in Oz? If you do, life passes by so quickly, opportunities seldom come, better to try it out and know for sure if you want to stay there is move elsewhere, or indeed back to the UK

What Perth will give you is an amazing part of the world, great weather, very friendly people, any outside activity you could wish for (not ski-ing though!)

It is remote though, you WILL have to travel for hours to get away, but its worth it, go to the east to the Reef, or up north to Ningaloo

My view is, better to try and live your life without regrets

Hope this helps

It is difficult to comment on the financial side without knowing more. But, if you can afford $4k a month, then yes you could comfortably afford a nice place.

As as for perth, it is a bit isolated particularly from other large cities. There are no other large cities in WA, though there are a number of small cities such as Mandurah. But the nearest decent sized city would be a flight away - Adelaide.

Perth has has a broad amount of leisure facilities such as beaches, water sports, international level sports competitions, and loads of other stuff.

It it is the most popular destination for British migrants.

It it does though depend on if you want to live in Oz.
