t9jla
Hi guys, not been on PP for months or even longer. Have read through a few threads and it's good to know lots of people have the same experiences - makes you feel normal again. We're in Secret Harbour with twins, one of each, aged 9. We have met plenty of people over the 2 years we have been here. We've made some really nice friends but we've also had some friends leave and go permanently back to the UK; others we've met at bbqs but found out we only really have the UK in common; we work with some nice people but unfortunately they sometimes live too far NOR to see socially and other friendships are sometimes only held togerher by bonds with kids. This re-establishing yourself stuff can be hard work can't it ? Maybe it's because it's Christmas time I've come on here to see what people are talking about. Lots of people I know have family here or regular visitors, and unfortunately (or fortunately depending how you look at it) we don't, so I guess I must be checking out if that is normal too. nettijep
Hi there, I arrived in Mandurah from not so chilly Sheffield, about 5 weeks ago. I'm on the hunt for the usual car / house / job ( Baker) at the moment and would love to meet up with anyone who has time over Christmas and New Year. I am a mum with 2 lovely independent lads here so would love to meet many other people. If you fancy a natter or a meet up at any time, give me a shout! EmmaC77
Hi Sorry to hijack this thread but I saw Rockingham and thought I'd ask the question. We are hoping to move over end next year - in Tassie at the moment. We visited Rockingham in January and loved it but we don't know much about the High Schools. Have read mixed views Rockingham High. Does anyone have any experiences of the High Schools in the area or Kolbe Catholic School - for a 13 year old?? Thank you Emma Edited December 21, 2014 by EmmaC77
linds
Hi my family and I are moving end of jan/early feb. We have 3 girls-ages 1, 2 and 4. jen140977
hi emma, we live in warnbro and love it. the local primary school was defo not an option when I visited but I cant comment on the high school. I suggest you look at private options, it really isn't tha expensive comparing praivete school to UK prices. Everything sounds expensive initially but when you earn, everything is in comparison. What we've experienced so far is that they really encourage kids to excel in what they are good at or have a passion for. We've found it very different to UK in the sense that every kid is special and encouraged to follow theri natural talent. PM me if you come to rocky, you wont regret it!! j x
linds
It sounds like everyone is friendly my husband will be working away so I'm looking to make friends and meet up with other parents so my girls can socialise too- Jen I'm glad you've said that about children as that's the main reason for our move x

We did the same as you - neither of us had a job but other half managed to get one straight away. I'm hoping to get work when school starts back in Feb ( Im a school teacher). We also got a rental pretty quickly - there are loads around.Happy to help you with school info - mine are 10 and 6 and we put them into the local primary school straight away. They have settled well and made friends. Would be interested in meeting up with people in the same situation! Gemma

We're in Secret Harbour so only a few minutes drive from Warnbro and have kids aged 10, 8 and 8. I'd happily meet up with you when you arrive. My kids are at SH and Frederick Irwin. It's really useful talking to others already here and getting the local info on schools etc. Lou x
