Scot01
You may find this website helpful - http://www.myschool.edu.au/ You can type in a suburb and it will come up with the schools in that suburb - primary, high and private. If you click on an individual school it will tell you which socio economic band it is compared to the national average, the % of students in which band, how many Aboriginal children, and students who don't have English as a first language. Also attendance rates. If you look on the left it lists the NAPLAN tests results - national tests taken in all schools in Year 3,5,7 and 9. Click on 'results in numbers' - basically green means OK, red means below the National average, dark red way below national average. I know NAPLAN results aren't everything and it depends on the individual child but it is a starting point.

Happy little Vegemite
If you're looking at public schools and have already secured a long term rental, your address will dictate what school your kids go to. We had to prove we lived in the catchment area before we could enrol our son at the local school. If you're looking at private schools @Lou8670 might be able to offer some advice, I know she's spent time looking into them...
Lou8670
Hi Jen As @Happy little Vegemite said when we arrived we stayed in Harrington Waters in Waikiki and the twins went to Waikiki PS for a short time before we secured a rental in Secret Harbour. The schools were very strict about catchment for the primary so you might not have any choice if going public. Will you be looking at primary or secondary? Public or private? The government education website describes the catchment area for each school or just have a look at your suburb on any website like Wikipedia or Bettereducation and it will tell you the schools in your area. The schools will be able to tell you if you're in their catchment if you can't work it out easily enough from the descriptions online. If you decide to look at private, primary schools in the area include South Coast Baptist College, Living Waters Lutheran, Star of the Sea, Tranby College, John Calvin (I think it's called in Baldivis and I'm sure there's another?!) St Bernadette's Catholic and further south you've got Mandurah Baptist, Frederick Irwin, and there's a Catholic school next door and a couple of others I can't remember the names of. Most have waiting lists but it depends on which year your child/ren would be going into. I know a bit about a few of the private schools so if you want to quiz me on them send me a PM. Obviously it's a personal choice but some schools are held in higher regard than others within the area. Good luck with everything. With so many people now moving to this area we may have to have another PP meet up Rockingham/ Mandurah way [emoji1] Edited October 18, 2014 by Lou8670
catdav87
Hi Jen, for what it is worth I would not send your children to the local primary school, I have pulled my children out and we are relocating. I know everyone is different but my daughter had a terrible time. We tried every other school and could not get in and there is a waiting list for private schools, you might have a different experience but that was ours. Good luck.
