Parent Visa Process...

KPnuts,

Correct, it was the Aged Contributory Parent Visa. They were only here on a visitor visa, I think the 6 month visa. They've been here probably 9 months or so in the last 3 - 4 years, but that's all. Don't think that 'time served' made a difference, we were maybe just lucky! :)

Lou8670 - hope that your MIL gets through the process and it all falls well for you and the family!

Good luck to all with whatever visa you're looking at.

Cheers,

Mark

That answers it then. If your parents had applied for their Aged CV some time ago, the application process takes account of any time spent in the queue, hense the quick turn around.

kpnuts - that's not what I meant - Mum and Dad have visited Australia several times in the last 3 - 4 years, but we only started the visa process in July of this year, applied around the 10th of July and received the PR award on the 1st October.

Comment links in with what Allan Collett is saying below - we were lucky and got the visa in less than 4 months.

Good luck.

Hi Gemmard

My mum already has a Contributory Parent (Temporary) (Subclass 173) visa and wants to know whether she can now apply for the Aged Parent (Subclass 804) visa while onshore. Her temporary visa expires end of Jan and we need to either apply for the Cont Parent (Subclass 143) before then or whether we can now apply for the Subclass 804?

Thanks in advance.

I have questions. Fingers crossed.

So my mum and her husband moved out to Perth about 8 years ago now but are not permanent residents. I don't know the ins and out's but I know they are deffo not PR.

John (mums husband) has a daughter out there and two sons still in the UK. But when we move out there next year my mum will have 50% of her kids as permanent residents in Aus. She thinks there may be something that means she can then apply for PR. He's retired and she only works a couple of days a week, but I'd imagine will be retiring soon. They own their house.

Is my mum on the right lines or is it all hogwash? Any help greatly appreciated.

We've not made any enquiries yet as we've not even got our visa yet, but since you offered!!!!

Cheers

Gareth

Hi Gareth,

Funnily enough i was just asking my agent re parents visa options as we are about to hopefully complete our visa...

This is the general jist that I got from the conversation.

You can apply onshore and off shore, can't remember the difference I am afraid, I have written this, but don't understand what I wrote, ( greater than 18yrs)

on shore- greater than 65 years.

On shore- Application fee is $4705 each person. ( or was that for both!?) Sorry useless post this is, gives folk a little idea on cost any how!

Plus a BOND $14,000 which goes into Aussie bank for more than 10years.

Then an Assurers VISA fee of $87,200 ( I think this is for 2 people, as my agent would have been chatting for my situation which would be for both my parents)

So basically $100,000 for two people.

Off shore, I think she said it can take 18months -2 years to do

AND On shore only 6 mths.

There are other visa's but they are basically a complete waste of time, they are really cheap in comparison, but that is because they are useless, once was a only surviving relative thing??

I think you do need to have 50% of your kids in OZ, in my case, I am one of 3 and my brother is already out there, so if I go, then they could go, if they can find the cash.

But something to be aware of, Pensions, if you leave the UK (u can go to europe and elsewhere i am told and not be affected) but if you go to OZ, you pension will not increase with inflation, or something along those lines, y dad was monaing about and i was only half listening.

sorry the info is a bit bitty, also ap[oligies for the erros, i'm the middle of my tax return and got side tracked, so rushing....

Hope that helps. Lauren

you are correct loopy, you do need 50% of children and step children count too. I think Gar needs to check with a migration expert or Immigration as I carn't get my head around that they have been there 8 years and not permanent residents. The 143 is a huge amount but lots of us doing it

Hi, congratulations on your parent visas!

We have a son in Perth who's been a resident for 6 years and a daughter who's on a visa but applying for residency in may. We've recently become grandparents and visit often, we've decided to apply through an agent, both my husband and I are in our 50s.

We know its going to be a costly process, we both work long hours and have little time to do the paperwork ect ourselves, roughly how much do you think you saved by not going through an agent?

Bev,

My agent cost £1750 I think...

well just been asked for the 2nd part of the visa, so 18 months it has taken. They ask if there are any changes and to pay within 28 days but the visa has not been granted yet ??? when it is we have to validate by April22nd.

hello Odies. We are with you on this one, as we got the 2nd VAC request today (13th). We have to validate by mid May. It's strange how it all seems to happen so quickly at this stage, after a seemingly long wait. So hopefully heading out for our new life within the next couple of months, having already sold our house.

All the best, Carob

my time lines are on the PIO Brand New parent visa thread, think you have posted on there as well.

no Carob, I read the thread but never posted, so pleased we have nearly got the visa. I think I read on PIO you have sent your daughter the money for the visa I think I will do the same, the visa centre make it hard to give them the money.

I feel excited and have cold feet all at the same time, can hardly believe the time has come.

We have just this week put our house on the market, no board or photos done yet but we have a viewing on friday, everything is going a bit fast.

Hi @odies and @Carob.

It does seem that way when you finally have to make the move. Suddenly the time has come and what you have always dreamt of is happening. I think it's because you've spent so long planning and your entry date will be a year from police check/medicals so if you did them when DIAC told you to at 12 months you'll have a shorter time to validate. It is annoying they were so over optimistic with their estimations.

Anyhow, that's fantastic news!!! Can't wait to hear when you get your visas! My MIL is 3 months behind you so she'd better get on with her medicals and police checks as I told her to wait. She'd be in a pickle if she had to validate so soon as she wants to sell her house first so she can validate/move in one trip.

Lou
