Laz
My children (3&6) have an interview for a catholic primary school on Monday. Has anyone experienced this before? What does it include? thanks in advance we have done it twice by phone and in both cases it wasn't to interview the kids, it was to interview the parents. (Our phone interviews have been from the UK.) We got places at both schools..... The most recent interview involved questions about why we chose that school, what we want from a school, what our children are like, what they like etc (this was for year 1 and year 5 for next year - I had found out in advance that they had places available). We also had another school provide a list of interview questions - that interview included a question about how often we attend church, and I think at least one other faith type question. We eventually got offered a place at that school but not at the time we had an interview (was kindergarten and they were oversubscribed). AussiMel
I found it more of a chat than an interview, we did the interview in person a few days after we arrived in September 2012, but I had completed the application in the UK and sent it to my sister and she handed it in to the office. The principal asked my daughter a few questions, basically what she enjoyed at her old school and asked me about our church attendance, they already had a copy of our previous parish priests reference. This was for a year 4 place and we got offered a place for her on the spot and she started the next day.

Perthahoy16
How did you get on? I know you posted almost a year ago but it would be great to get some peoples experience? I have a 3 and 5 year old. We live in England and missed out on the local Catholic School, my son is now in Year 1, youngest in pre-school but if we had stayed in Glasgow they would have went to the local Catholic School and only just this year for my eldest. I'm now toying with public vs Catholic when we move out in March. Do you have any advice?
Laz
it might depend on where you want to live (i.e. what the local public vs Catholic school is like), how long you plan to be here (is it permanent?), and if it's permanent, where do you want to send your children to secondary school. My kids are at a very nice CAtholic school which we absolutely love! There are a few other families that travel quite a distance (for Perth) to get to the school because our primary school gets automatic entrance into the Catholic secondary school. Some of the secondary schools (Catholic) will be hard to get into. The other thing to consider is that, just like in the UK, if you go to the local primary school fair chance there'll be kids from the school in your street. It's a little different at the local Catholic schools....just the same as the UK.
