Druid
Joondalup is a very large area, you need to be more specific, we live in Burns Beach & love it

LoopyLauren
Anybody any thoughts on what it's like around Joondalup to live? My brother lives there and seems to like it. Near Hillary's Harbour I think. He is single though, so not sure what's like for families. I have a sister visiting with her 18mth old soon, So I can keep you posted. My mum has just been out and was very impressed with the location.

flatpack
I'm in Carramar and it's a great place to live, a bit far away from the city
Guest Guest6235
Thanks for the replies. Apart from the distance from the city does anybody on the forum live or know of anyone who lives in Butler? I know it has a little reputation similar to Clarkson but we looked round Clarkson yesterday and me being me waved a couple of cars down in the streets and asked what they thought of the area, they said they loved it! dxboz
Don't know Butler myself but know someone who lives there and they love it
flatpack
I've heard loads of people slate both Clarkson and Butler but I work with a guy who's lived in Butler for 4 years as that is the only place he could afford to buy! He loves it and says the reputation is unwarranted, he said that there were problems a couple of years ago but the residents "came together" and sorted the problem. I took that as they formed a vigilante squad to rid themselves of the divs causing the problems, so all is good. Jindalee is separated from Butler by Marmion, it's an "exclusive" neighbourhood with prices to match so Butler cannot be as bad as some try to make out. A train station has been opened in Butler and the freeway extension is due to start early next year. All in all Butler/ Clarkson seem an affordable alternative and we may look there ourselves when the time to buy comes around.

Hi Keefo we have a cafe in Butler (but you probably knew that anyway) and we employ mostly Butler based staff who are a pretty good bunch TBH; the cafe regulars are also very friendly and welcoming......mostly... Lol. Rob

P1999
Why would you want to leave the UK and then move to a place that has the highest amount of british people per square KM outside of the UK ( butler ) .. I could write a book on it..
JasonM
Butler maybe not people's first choice, however when you look at property it maybe all they can afford. We would love to be in Duncraig but may have to settle on Kingsley. If we want a new build we will probably be looking at Amberton which is miles out as I not quiet as rich as Druid (lovely pad underway in Burns Beach) and we could have 700-800k to spend with a bit of mortgage. I find that quite scary as pretty much mortage free in the UK. We could easly buy in Butler and I understand why people would. I am starting to get quite twitchy myself wondering if we can really afford to jump on the property ladder as I have just turned 40, I am sure there are also people in worse position to myself and they have tried it. If you are lucky and get the nice 100k plus jobs a year then having the big Mortage is maybe not such a scary prospect. it also depends on what you want out of life, big shiney house or nice area or if your lucky to afford both. keefo when we was driving around it all looked pretty lovely, Hillarys year we will stop there, Burns beach had a lovely feel but I guess without spending time it would be hard to say. Also great thing with advise is some things may bother you that other let was over their heads and visa-versa. Our plan is to try and do 6 month rental in a place we think we want to buy in and go from there. Hope what ever you do works out for you and the family. nikkiwd
I think most people choose Butler for other reasons ie affordability, not far to beach etc. Its just so happens that lots of other Brits have chosen Butler for those same reasons. JasonM we live in Kingsley and love it but we are finding house prices here expensive too for anything decent.

Guest Guest6235
It's strange, when we looked round Butler today I stopped and asked these people in different roads/areas of what their thoughts were of the area as it's something I like to do and they were a lady walking her dog, a guy putting his car away accompanied by his two children, a man walking to his car, a lady walking her daughter from the local park and another guy just getting in.....all of them were aussie apart from the last guy who was a Kiwi. Guest Guest6235
I actually think you're a PP member that went or still goes under a different name and has also gone under this new guise but has had a very very bad experience and you really want to make it known. If you're so unhappy then move on, life is too short.
