JasonM
This is another thing that could be argued from different cases, a doctor made my nephew mentally handicap by over ventilating him at birth, I am sure people have lots of stories for doctors saving and also destroying lives and family's. But you was right it wasn't serious even with the bad that we have had in our family as I know there are ones out there doing good. rpakey said: I know this comment isnt that serious, but watch a Dr saving your or a families life and then decide if they deserve what they earn... cocolevi
Today's episode that poor girl Im sorry but I felt her parents are so selfish quite happy to work and not spend time with her, she's crying out for their attention. Why do people like that bother having children
JenPen
It's annoying they didn't show decent houses for them....it's seemed to me she was bitter that he'd earn the same as her out in OZ! They don't spend time as a family now but would be able to in OZ - surely that is the turning point and priceless but they would actually be £300 up a month....! JasonM
Watching it now, I think the problem with housing is they are used to the cheap Welsh house prices £135k for a 3 bed and then go to an expensive Melbourne house price area, where I live in the UK houses are pretty much on par with prices with Perth so not too much of an shock for us. They have come across as selfish In my opinion, I always put my kids first. The poor kid is crying out for her parents. They should be careful that she doesn't go finding attention from others to compensate. Problem is with such a short program and possible editing by the producers you will never know the full truth of the people on the show I guess just had a laugh how he was slating the wood on the walls in building number 2 yet they haven hat in their kitchen. FOL
We watched like 12 episodes years ago. But we're done with it. Lots of personal drama which doesn't really make it nice to watch (sure it's part of it, still...not enjoying watching it). You don't see a lot of the country and I can view houses on realestate or domain.com.au
elfie
Wanted Down Under - pretentious unrealistic rubbish giving people a false sense of realism of life in another country. jac2011
I am a member of the WDU facebook group and after today's show the producers had to put a warning on about comments about the families. This is the first time I have seen them do that. I think the editing of the program certainly needs questioning... Problem for the parents is that girl dreams of a new life in Australia and they will potentially have to consider the fact that when their daughter is old enough she is likely to go on her own accord and the parents will be too old to move. Mother didn't want to go and give up her job. The daughter wants to spend time with her mum and dad poor thing. Mother was a I think lawyer and earns big bucks but if she moved over her oh a painter and decorator would be on the same money as her and you could she the disgust in her face
JasonM
cocolevi you forgot to mention that the fathers 50 hours was his first job he then did 20 hours working in a Gym and the daughter was on her own. cocolevi said: Father works 50 hours a week mother out of the house 6am till 10 pm every day daughter on her own a lot they have no family time. Makes you wonder if they even need to do the hours they are working or take on the extra Gym work, seems to me they both prefer working than spending time as a family. Again very hard to get a full story from a 45 min program, however if my family dynamic was like this i wouldn't go showing it off on national television. Maybe the daughter should have taken them on Jeremy Kyle rather than Wanted Down Under. I see why Facebook don't want any comments about the family, they are probably being shouted at in the street. I disagree when it comes to living in Australia. It used to be years ago that you could come to Australia and convert your pounds into a lot of dollars, buy a big new house with a pool etc. So many of the families on WDU think that by moving to Oz they are somehow not going to work as hard yet have a fancy big house. I think they get a shock when everything is so much more expensive than they had imagined. Or sometimes it's obviously more expensive but they miraculously diddle their figures to get the answer they want. So I think WDU gives people at least some idea of how expensive Australia is.... pegg
been watching wanted down under this time round ...... and nearly all of them have whooping budgets £400k - £700 ........ miss the episodes where it shows more of a struggle, or perhaps its just us being abit jealous ;o)
gar374
I have to say I agree @pegg. They all seem to have massive budgets despite living in much cheaper houses back home. We thought we were doing quite well having a budget of near $400k and heading SOR everyone seems to have double that though. I reckon it's the tv company making the numbers look more interesting for the programme. I'm finding it a bit demoralising though. They never seem to stray far from the city or coast (where you'll get much more for your money) despite people having very long commutes at home. There are other issues with the show too. I remember the guy who was a property developer who had fallen on hard times and was a house husband, and they insisted his wife (hairdresser) would be the main bread winner as she was the visa applicant, as if he wasn't allowed to work. They just seemed to gloss over the fact he had skills and would be very employable down under. Rant over. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy the show, seeing where we are going to be living and all the other cities I'd like to visit, but I think the format needs a revisit, as does the presenter! I was gutted for the little girl straight away because she took them to Melbourne! i've lived there and i knew it was going to be cold and crap which didn't work in her favour, the outdoor activity was rubbish too ha then on top of all that the houses weren't very nice and you don't get a lot for your money where they were looking. I did think her dad was thinking of moving over by himself after he checked his painting and decorating salary and hours ha

The houses they look at are always sooooooo far from the city, no wonder they're affordable! I don't think the TV producers are making the numbers look more interesting. Perth property (and Perth in general) is very expensive!

Chook
I haven't watched any episodes for a week or more but so glad that I caught the one this morning. What a wonderful story of love and commitment. This little family never lost sight of their dream for a better future, were realistic in their needs for a comfortable and affordable home, and were not dazzled by the bright lights of life in the sun. The first year can present many challenges, but hopefully, with visits from family and friends, they will continue to flourish in their new lives down under. Australia is all the richer for having wonderful new immigrants such as this. Welcome to Australia Tanya and Jordan.
