odies
I have friends in Quinns Rocks and they love it, they do have a fabulous home , they built it themselves . I have 2 other friends whose children go to school in Quinns, and they do not have a Quinns address, and no problems. The ones who live in Quinns go private. My DIL mum lives in Quinns also, as I have said before it has different areas within Quinns, the old Quinns is becoming less old now as the properties appear to be sold and then knocked down for a rebuild. The beach front is great to walk along and the coffee/restaurant on the front is great.I read somewhere recently it is becoming an up and coming area. JasonM
Thank odies, do you know the name of the private school? It maybe just outside quinns Rock as I have looked on the school like someone posted and only 2 primary schools came up quinns Rock and quinns beach, anyone have any info on these schools would be great. have already found a holiday let, a rental we love and a house we would love to buy but can't do a thing about any, so frustrating. Will have to stop looking as driving me nuts
drhebden
Hi Jason, we loved Quinns Rocks after staying there for 3 weeks last year in a nice holiday let. Now we are making the move in April it's been on our potential list too - particularly the bit along ocean drive connecting with Jindalee. Took a drive around there this week and still had that homely feel to me. 2 things making us reconsider though - schools and amenities for our children - thinking it might be up and coming but our kids are already there with needs now so also looking from Burns Beach to Hillarys as alternative for better schooling options, more clubs and facilities etc. (Also bit better for me really as will be working in CBD.) watching this thread for all advice with interest .. odies
Jason, Quinns Rocks is the better school and my friends girl goes to Peter Moyes Anglican, the mum is a teacher in another area .hope that helps.
Stella650
Hi Jason, My 3 children went to Quinns Rocks Primary near Gumblossom. I was happy and so were they. It's a small friendly school. Peter Moyes is excellent (and expensive) if your children are academic. Hope this helps
Arwen
Academically there isn't a lot between Peter Moyes and Quinns Baptist College. However, IMO I would always chose an Anglican school over a Baptist if private was my only option.
JasonM
Peter Moyes looks a nice school from the website, my daughter currently goes private school in the UK, I will have to look once we get out. will have to work out the finances and see if it will be possible to send 2 girls. Trying to get my head around what year they will be in Maddison 8 July, Violet 4 September Maddison is currently in prep 3 here but I am sure it's not the same. Did you move to Jindalee to get a new house in a new area or is Jindalee nicer than Quinns Rock, my wife wants to be close to her friend in Dun Craig but I don't think its worth killing ourselves on the Mortage to get into Dun Craig, Burns beach would be nice but again expensive. Quinns Rock seems reasonable on the house prices. We will definitely get a holiday let in quinns, the wife has been looking at Butler and Clarkson, I figured Quinns Rock as I have not seen many people slating it compared to Butler and Clarkson. odies
Jason we only built in Jindalee as son lived there, he has moved now , !! but at the time it was a good price for a beachside plot also.It is a shame about the slating of Butler .In 10 years Quinns has changed and if you were lucky enough to get in early I bet you could have made a killing which is the same for a lot of the so called better areas , house prices have gone through the roof, most brits seemed to move to a lot of areas with no mortgage years ago, not now thats for sure. If you pm Rob T he could help with a coffee shop in Butler and he rents in an area very close, the main thing he would say is not to live right on the beach front, that 3 o'clock wind doctor brings sand everywhere. Where to live and schools seem to be a minefield when reading threads, I wish you well in your quest. pm me if you like.

Maddison would be in year 2. I'm not sure about Violet as all mine were already in primary when we arrived. I don't know much about pre primary/ kindy. Happy little Vegemite
Lou is correct, year 2 for Maddison, where she will be one of the oldest in her year (cut off date is 30 June). Violet will start kindy in February 2016. Kindy isn't compulsory so they don't have to give her a place if they're already full, I would advise getting her name down as soon as you get here (but it is funded, so you only have voluntary school fees etc to pay). Kindy for our daughter this year is a five day fortnight; 2 days one week, 3 the next. I think it's up to the school how they manage this... Arwen
Enrolment for Kindy is usually done between June-August for the following year. As previous poster said if your local catchment school is full then they don't have to take you. The school I worked at used to take enrolments from overseas so might be worth contacting the school in your chosen area.
