hellokitty
Morning/Afternoon all, I was wondering whether anyone could be of assistance. I am currently training to become a driving instructor in the UK and I am trying to find information regarding the transference of skills from the UK to western Australia. Are there any uk trained instructors on this forum that have successfully migrated to western and what were the actual qualifications that were needed? All VETASSESS say is that the qualifications have to be assessed at AQF certificate iv, or our equivalent NVQ 3. Did anyone actually need to have an NVQ 3 or are the DSA qualifications in line with Australian standards. I have phoned the DVSA here in England and they weren't much use. I just need to be as clued up as possible, as it is currently on the WASMOL, but for how long I do not know. Kindest Regards

hellokitty
Morning. I am just at the research stages at present. I was wanting to make sure that when I went through VETASSESS that my uk qualifications were what they had on the skill assessment criteria; as I do not want to spend a lot of money for them to turn around and say that they do not meet the criteria. I still have to get more experience before I can apply for any of this, but when the time comes and if it is still on the WASMOL list I will be in a much better position. verystormy
I think I would use an agent for this. Try giving Go Matilda a call as they will do a free assessment and a strategy for the longer term. One thing they will not be able to guarantee is that an occupation will stay on the list though. nikkiwd
Something to be aware of is Driving Instructor is on the WA list but it is schedule 2 which means you need to meet the criteria, one of which being you need a job offer in place before they will sponsor you for a visa. It is also very difficult to get an invite with a schedule 2 occupation as some other PP members have gone through this previously.
Hopeful
Hubby a UK qualified driving instructor with his own business for 25 yrs, now having to fully re qualify in Perth, thankfully we didn't come on his qual. Have seen on CSOL though but sorry not a clue what you'd need to do/ prove, I think an agents advice would be useful with this one. Good luck
