Millie1978
Hi all , I wonder can anyone help . I submitted my EOI last September for the 489 family sponsor visa. I did not think it would take as long. My agent originally said that I would get a invitation to apply within 6 weeks , well that has come and gone ! i have been told that my visa is not priority and that they only invite around 100 applications each month . No major panic here but didn't think it would take so long . Is anyone experienced this delay with there own visa
DyLeB
How many points do you have?
DyLeB
Looking at the last few rounds of invitation results, you are going to need 65 points to be invited for 489 family sponsored. Next step would be to be to look at state nomination 489 if you require 10 points.

This has been the trend for the last 12 months, going by there graph. so I'm starting to lose hope. Our agent can't give us a time frame either , as far as I know everyone that goes in with 65 points will be priority. Unless anyone has any other information . Millie Yep, unfortunately higher points take priority so whilst there's applicants with 65 points and above filling the quotas you won't be included on 60 points. Is there any way of increasing your points? Have you spoken to your agent?

Orana , Northern and Southern inland , Murray aswell . We are considering it ,but very hard to get any information about these areas . Lifestyle work schools etc? Have you decided to go on state sponsorship . Would rather WA but as a carpenter my occupation is not on the list . Millie

Millie Not sure how many points you are claiming for english ability, but there are now new test that you can do instead of IELTS. May be worth looking in to these than sitting waiting for an invite which may never happen. http://www.immi.gov.au/News/Pages/aelt.aspx

We originally thought we'd have to apply on a 489 with family sponsorship but realised we could get 65 points by having my skills assessed as well as hubby's and apply for the 189. In the end we didn't bother getting mine assessed as I watched the invitation rounds and realised we'd get invited in the next round on 60 points.
