Homesick

Today I am mostly feeling sorry for myself! Wrong thing to do I dug out all the old pictures .......

Result heart wrenching sobbing, laughter and more sobbing. This has left me missing my friends my home and my old life. Been here 2 1/2 years now, have not really settled find it hard to meet like minded down to earth people so bad of me to say that sorry .............. I do not class myself in typically womanly in the sense of the norm .... Im not crazy honest :cute:. Although this is debatable ............

I cant do that chit chat that ladies talk to me its inane drivel and the look of boredom on my face says it all - sorry ladies out there I do not mean to offend - there's nothing wrong in chit chat it but its not me. I like doing I miss my old life I still feel this place is full of falseness. The dog bless her was looking at me befuddled. Took major restraint not to ring my mate in the UK .... She wouldn't have been receptive at that time haha... Cant wait for hubby to ring tonight by then this feeling will have passed. Question, wonderings does this happen often??? How do people cope? Its worse for some I know far worse I should count myself as lucky to have this opportunity being here ............

I am not a blubbering woman and never have been.............

Note to self dont get the old pics out for a while if so only if not on my own !!!

Am left wondering if buying a house was right??? But am looking forward to hammering and banging and giving the house a make over and some tlc. Plus I'm getting out of Secret bloody Harbour. I know when we are in our own home the next months, are going to be busy busy busy.

Apologies just felt the need to post its not meant to be offensive to the women on the forum please dont take it as such, but if you do then so be it. Also perhaps to let others know the die hard get hit out of the blue sometimes so your not alone :cute:

Ciao ciao

Perhaps it's because you have now bought a house that it's made you realise it's for real now. I think renting you never really feel settled, I know I didn't . As for the friends thing I know exactly how you feel, I've had to distance myself from a lot of ladies I've met as they just aren't my cup of tea. It's hard because we spend years getting our set just right back in the UK  Having OH's who are FIFO can also be tough, I'm certainly not your typical FIFO widow, well Im certainly not like the ones I've met anyway. Chin up, pull on your big girl knickers and start planning your new home. You'll be alright.

Sorry you are feeling like this, I had terrible homesickness when I moved to Canada many year ago and it can be debilitating. Out of interest what do you and your friends talk about when you get together in the UK. What do you consider chit chat here. I don't know you so I am not offended but am just interested so can see where you may meet like minded people. Do you think you are living in the wrong area? My youngest daughter goes to private school. I am not friends with any of her friends parents, they are just not my type of people. My eldest goes to a really bogan school and I find myself having more in common with the bogan parents than the stuck up private school ones.

1 I am a lapsed practising pagan solitary is not my path

2 Prefer a spanner to an eyelash brush

3 Make candles not cakes

4 I would wear home made tie dye rather than prada

I think that's enough said

1. Don't understand paganism but a quick google found this http://thecollectivewa.com/community/groups/perth/

2. I am hopeless so spanners would be useless to me. I don't wear makeup every day but if I go out I put a bit of mascara and lippy on.

3. I make cakes but would love to know how to make candles too.

4. Have never worn a designer label in my entire life so totally understand you there.

Good luck, finding like minded friends will make such a difference to how you feel about living here I think.

Elfie you have to start connecting with like minded people - there are lots of pagans in Perth. Google Pagans in Pubs for a start - they meet twice a month. Don't know if you are into Wicca but lots of these groups also. Wicca was first introduced into Australia by someone in Fremantle many years ago. Loads of interesting people and groups out there. You really should start connecting! Hope your spirits lift soon x

I'm feeling homesick too. I was ok up until xmas and then I felt it. Then my son arrived in jan for 3 weeks with his girlfriend and it was great. Then I had to take them to the airport yesterday and I'm broken hearted. It was harder than when we left home to come here. Can't stop crying. I know it'll pass but I hate feeling like this. Anyway, a good cry means you pee less!! X

Hey Elfie you said you were not into the solitary path but you are not interested in any groups? Now I am confused. Wondered how you were doing Travel chic - been a hard time for you lately xx

I think I explained in previous post re groups.......

Its hard for people with limited knowledge on the subject to understand .... No offence ....

I know people mean well.

Not really into Wicca either. More of a sea grass person.

i think you have to be mindful of not stereotyping most women as shallow and full of dull chit chat. Many women probably start with polite conversation as a means of making aquaintences that then with time lead to deeper conversations where they decide whether they have more in common. If you dug a little deeper you may well find that these chit chat women are in to all manner of things.

I guess if you put up barriers based on gender then you are cutting yourself off from potentially 50% of the population. As most men are at work during the day, then that leaves you with no one. If you choose to be an inhospital island, don't be surprised if no one comes sailing up.

I think you will find I did not mention the word shallow

Shallow -- having little depth

Inane --senseless

Drivel - senseless talk

But come to mention it yea perhaps your description is much better. Is it that wrong to state a feeling emotion that I as a person have a different interests paths that is not the stereotypically the "norm" for females? Thankfully I do not fall into the typical stereotype of a female then has served me well over the years ::sigh:: your comment on As for Wicca and Seagrass as I have to say did make me chuckle some what.

Can also state I am not anti social possibly just particular of the company I chose to associate with would be a better description.

Obviously you are one of the females that did take umbrage to my post so be it.

Nothing wrong in having different interests and not being stereotypically female. However, the underlying tone of your comments generally (IMO) is quite rude about anyone who has different views to you. If you come across in real life as you do here then quite honestly it's no wonder you have very few people interested in being your friend.

Regarding my comments rude I am not rude in real life honest. I am though straight to the point if its taken as rude then so be it. At the end of the day my opinions and feelings as valid as the next. I dont have to agree with what everyone says which is the same as anyone of mine. I have friends not many here in Australia admittedly. Apologies for not being in awe of everything thats posted on here. Perhaps it should not be a forum then but a debating page. Your opinion of me is duly noted.

Have to agree with Arwen here Elfie - and why on earth would you think that my knowledge on the subject was limited - you do not know anything about me - this in fact is not the case. Anyway I wish you well and hope you find like minded people to yourself
