Kermit
Hi, we have just secured our first rental in Applecross and just looking into internet and Tv...lots of mixed reviews on here but can't find any recent comments so thought I'd ask the question....I think we have chosen to go for Vivid wireless unlimited for $79 a month but not sure whether it's worth getting cable or digital tv? not really interested in sports we don't have any little ones so would just be movies and discovery channels, series etc ..... what do people reccomend? thanks in advance
elfie
We managed with the free view for a 12 mth was adamant I wasn't having foxtel but caved in. Free view is poor there's only a few channels there are lots of shopping channels. Foxtel does not have the amount of channels that sky has. Give free view a go see how you get on it might be enough for you.
verystormy
To be honest, I would not bother with Foxtel unless you want the sport. I have always ways had it at work and can count on the fingers of one hand the amount of times I have watched it. ABC 22,23 are pretty much full time kids shows. Lou8670
We have a top box for free view and have just bought Apple TV. We don't feel we need much else tbh.

What are the advantages of Apple tv? Have looked at it, but can't see anything and seems less than things like Optus and you still need a internet line anyway? Raychelsb
We get by with Netflix, watch it through our Wii console and use unblock us at a few dollars a month so we can switch between different. Netflix accounts such as UK and US. Great for tv series and new films.
Druid
Vivid probably wont have the bandwidth to support watching internet based TV! So I wouldnt spend a lot getting Internet based TV only to find out you dont have the bandwidth
trevnod
Is Foxtel the equivalent of Sky? what are the main differences between them when it comes to packages, what you get and cost?
Druid
Is Foxtel the equivalent of Sky? what are the main differences between them when it comes to packages, what you get and cost? Yes Foxtel is very similar to SKY! Some of the sporting events are acutally broadcast by Sky overseas, but shown here on Foxtel, google Foxtel AU and have a look for yourself, like everything in Aus, Foxtel is more expensive than Sky, the free to air digital TV is dire, so if you watch a lot of Sky, you going to struggle without, and the internet based TV doesnt work either unless you have good internet, but thats another story..............
